Rubber brake line...rounded the bolt!!xxsaint69x 02-16-2004, 06:31 PM Well i am in process of taking of my old brakes to put some baer brakes. The passanger side came of nicely, but same cant be said for the driver side!! I rounded the bolt that connects the rubber line to the metal one. How should i go about removing it? The connecor has to be replaced as well once i take it off.....What will be the best way to fix this mess? Then use a double flairing tool and put on a new connector. shoebox 02-16-2004, 06:36 PM If it is a flare nut, you should always use a flare nut wrench, but even then sometimes you can get into trouble. Not horrible odds i guess :) OBE1 95Z28 01-31-2006, 06:54 PM I've had some success with reshaping the rounded fitting with a file. Flare wrench is the way to go. Also sometimes by slightly tightening the fitting first before loosening it can help to break them loose. Not horrible odds i guess :) well the brake line is 3/16ths, so its gonna be the smallest of the flare nut wrenches the brings it down from 6 wrenches to 2, the smallest sae and the smallest metric Compstall 02-03-2006, 01:48 AM Same thing happened to me 3 years ago and I HAD flare nut wrenches. Had to cut it off. Not even vice grips would get it off. The flare nuts are soft metal. | ||
