Post Window Tint Law in Michigan

Anyone know the front side window tint law in Michigan?
I did some research but all of the sites I found says 4" VLT for the front side. What the hell do they mean by 4"? (4inch thickness?)
Any help will be appreciated.

I believe that you are allowed to have Tint 4 inchs from the top, so in other words you can have like the top 4 inchs of your front windshield tinted to remain legal. \
