Is a window switch necessary with an auto trans?

The transmission should keep it from over revving. And I can roll into the throttle to bring the rpms up before I floor it and activate the wot switch.

I don't have one, but I'm crazy like that. If the drive shaft breaks you can swing the RPMs way up quick and the computer will cut the fuel, however the N2O is still flowing and needs something to burn so it burns pistons. Leaning out on nitrous is bad news. I plan on getting one with my new kit.

biggest reason for a window switch with an auto is to make a stock trans live. spraying through shifts will kill a stocker or cheap rebuilt tranny with heat in a hurry. Most use the switch to shut the nitrous off right before the shift rpm.

if you are confident in your builder,go ahead and spray through shifts,i did for 2 years with a built trans from a member here. trans would of gone longer but i snapped the output shaft.

You do not want to hit the rev limiter with the N2O activated. A window switch prevents this from happening.

You guys are scaring me. Do you think a 100 shot is safe on a car with 135k? Or should I forget about it? I have a second car and eventually replacing a tranny wouldnt be that big of a deal.

I was thinking instead of a wot switch I should have a push button on the console, then I could let off when I wanted. I see the msd window switch is only $76. I didnt wanna pay $200 for a nos brand one.

just get the window switch and have fun. we arent trying to scare anyone,just show the facts. a lot of guys use the msd switch.

window switch and a wot switch is the better combo,with a handheld button you risk spraying at too low of an rpm and causing engine damage.

Yeah I think I'll use the wot switch, window switch and fuel pressure safety switch.

What about the Jacob's Nitrous Mastermind? Doesn't this also have the same option as the MSD to turn on/off the nitrous at set RPM's plus I will be able to control how much the nitrous sprays in each gear I believe. And then use a relay so that I can hook the nitrous up through the TPS sensor. Just have to make the solenoids read 4volts at WOT I believe.

I currently have 148K on mine spraying 100. The car had 142-143k on it when the N20 was installed. I run the window switch also.

why pay for a mastermind when you could spend 75 more and have a maximizer??

I use a hand held switch, But I have been doing this for a long time.If your carefull and cool at the line you wont have any problems if your jumpy dont take the chance.

I think I'm gonna use a push button so I can quit spraying before it shifts.

use the window switch,just a smarter easier way.

Or you can hook up both the window switch and the pushbutton and just use the button when you are feeling lucky:D (I have a seperate arming switch for them) Maybe Ive been lucky, but on 2 different races, i sprayed too soon and had a nitrous backfire but there was no damage that i could tell.
