I shot the gas, broke, now i got to pull the heads. Tell me what i may be dealin with

I went to shoot my car, a little more gas then usualle, please dont ask how much. At the beginning of second i shot it. Went fien for a few seconds then i lost power and my mistake, i stayed on it longer then i shoulda. I coasted down, gavce it some gas was car was studdering, popping, and skipping. I barley limped home. Today i pulled the plugs and they looked worse then any plug i have ever seen, on the internet or anywhere. The electrodes were burnt off, on some the plastic was even melted only a few of them could have been fireing barley. I put in new plugs, it cranked right up and idled alot stronger then the burnt plugs obviously but still skipping and smell of gas out the exhaust. I pulled some of the drivers side plugs tonight and did a compression test of 3 of the cylinders, two were good and one got no reading. It was dead. TOmorrow my buddy is going to help me pull the heads to see if hopefully its jsut a valve.... WHat are chances of the bottom end being damaged??? Hopefully, not a piston(s).

You would be best off doing a leakdown test before you go to the trouble of taking the heads off. That will tell you if your intake, exhaust, or cylinder is leaking. Just listen for air coming from the intake or the exhaust ports when you do it. If your plugs were that bad it probably detonated and anything could be damaged when that happens.

tru, but would any of that leaking cause a cylinder not to fire at all?

You said that you got no compression from one cylinder. That cylinder has a slim chance of firing with no compression, but it could fire every now and then. If you do a leakdown you should get a very obvious leak somewhere.

My bet would be that you poked a hole in a piston its probably the cylinder you hear skipping.Hopfully thats not it though .good luck.

Most likely cranked the piston at the ring lands. I did the same thing on my car when it was stock. Did any of your spark plugs look like anything had came into contact with them. For example, did any of them have knicks or dents in them? My #7 piston had 0 compression too. Time for a rebuild with some forged stuff.

Good Luck and let us know what you find

Any stroker kits in the $3,000 range ya know of off hand?

Hopefully its just a valve though, but if the #3 piston isnt even giveing a reading, could it be just a valve?

You've trashed a piston, almost for certain. Eagle and Scat have some nice stroker kits for less than $3K, for sure. Good luck, and please post how much you were spraying. It will provide some info for those people who always ask "how much nitrous can I spray".

lol, its a 12 bolt. You dont have any need for it. I was going to at least do head porting, valves in the near future anyway. So i dont care as long as nothing in the bottom end is messed up. even so, i found an LS1 short block already incase. I am also thinking of stroker kits, but cant afford it right yet. I guess if its the bottom end, i can replace it with a stock and beef up the broke one. DOnt matter. I expected this sooner or later.
