gti vs. lt1 trans am

i figured you guys'd have fun with this one, so here goes..........

my gti has a boost & timing controller and nothing else (stock down to the air filter).

i was driving along the other day and noticed a black t/a pull out a little ways in front of me. i downshift to 3rd just in case, then look over as i get even with it. i get on it and he does the same. i put about a car to a car and a half on him and then he starts to pull on me a bit. we're coming up some traffic and a blind hill, so i get on the brakes with his front bumper about even with my rear wheel.

things clear up and he obviously wants to go again. from a 2nd gear roll, we both hit it again. i run out 2nd and 3rd and he has a couple cars on me. i pull up with him as we're slowing and give him a thumbs up and he gives me one of these

some people have big head syndrome, what they don't realize is there is always someone faster, you should have given him one of these after he gave you

I have raced a few fbody LT1's at the track, but none of them were stock. The one had all sorts of boltons and was running 13.6's to 13.9's @ 103-104 traps. I believe I still have a few timeslips of me running him. I ran one other that trapped 102 to my 100mph, he said he had some exhaust work and thats it when we got back to the return lane, he wasn't too interested in chatting it seemed.

I also ran a friends stock one (on a closed course ) not too long ago from a 20mph roll, I managed to pull about 1 1/2 -2 lengths by the middle of third gear, around 60-70mph. When we raced from highway roll speeds around 60mph to 100+ we were almost dead even with him pulling like half a fender on me by the end of fourth gear.

It was a semi kill for him at 1st then he got killed on the 2nd run.

There is a black 1.8T around here that a young kid drives. Sharp lil car and runs pretty good too. I was in my family van (03 Voyager w/ 3.3 V-6) and I was in a rush to get to the store so I was gettin on it a lil. I roll up next to him and then take off on GREEN with a little wheel spinage (LOL) and he was kinda surprised (or sleeping...LOL). He wouldn't let a VAN beat him so... I had my windows down and managed to get about 3 lengths on him while he was spinning pretty bad. I saw his front end dip then rock back as he shifted into 2nd and herd him still squeeling the tires BUT he started to real my in and by the time he had to shift to 3rd he was passing me at a rather quick pace. I was laughing pretty good cause I know how much I OWNED him for that short time. He smiled back. I know if he had some better tires, it wouldn't have been worth telling you about it.

It was fun...

FWD + open diff + peak torque @ <2000 rpms = sometimes tricky to launch

hey whats up i am crossville man. I usually go to knoxville once a week. I believe i have seen that black t/a before. Does it have chrome wheels? Dark tint? then thats it

Yeah, that was pretty much a douche of him. I have run people in civics, heck even an astro van, just for kicks. When its over i usually ask their mods, and try to respect, UNLESS they are beinga total ****.

Other than that just wanted to say hey. Maybe i will run into one day man.

Sounds like he was stock. Nice damn run. I've been debating, well we've been debating on trading my girlfriends 02 Jetta (stock slow as dirt 2.0) for a 1.8T. Were working on it. They got real potential. Nice kill.
