Maybe they have some gears at the rear and can shift into 5th while doing 30? IDK if that is the difference, but I would also like to know how y'll guys get 20 in the city, too. My LT1 would get 15 on good tanks.

ps - the entire tank, never went over 1800 rpm... normally 1500-1800
1st - 10 mph
2nd - 20 mph
3rd - 25 - 30 mph
4th - 30 mph
5th - 35 - 40 mph
6th - 48 - 55 mph
(all these numbers are averages i guess, cant be exact...)
is driving in 6th gear around 1100 rpm worste than driving in 5th at around 1600??? i was thinking maybe more stress on engine that low... dunno...

Keep in mind if you shift too early, you will find yourself giving it more gas to accelerate using more fuel, even if you don't think you are. Anyways, 18 mpg in the city is damn good in my opinion. Mine gets 21-22mpg with 50% highway and 50% city.

I average around 18 mpg. Like the other said, keeping your rpms to low will cause you to use more gas upon accelaration. I like to keep my revs around 1500-2000 for cruising.

same here. i find that you still have enough go when you give it a litle bit of gas to get infront of ppl without having to drop a gear, and the gas mileage is pretty good.

I used to get 18 MPG in the city on my stock 3.42 rear. Now, with the 4.11 rear, I get 17 MPG.
58K miles, oil slipping past the piston rings, but I'm not paying the grease monkeys to install the new ring kit. I'll just continue buying oil in the 5 quart jugs. :D
