Nathan1234 11-28-2003, 05:05 PM Well, if you've seen a roots blower, you'll notice it sits on top of engine. This will not work very well with the standard LS1/LS6 front fed intake manifold. If they have a roots blower for the C5, it would have to replace the stock manifold with a custom intake to feed from the top down. And they would have to make it VERY low profile (relative to a standard roots) and would most likely have to forget an intercooler for height reasons (and I wouldn't personally run a non-cooled blower on a high compression aluminum block LS1). As you probably already know, clearing the cowl would be a problem...and probably the main reason why there isn't a roots blower for an F-body. The LS1/6 isn't sitting under the cowl on a C5 so the only modification needed, is a new hood. LPE offers the Magnacharger for pretty much every V8 GM vehicle, except F-bodies...if they were going to offer one, I think they would've already done it by now. I talked with them and they said they tryed to fit it in the fbody but the cowl was in the way and since people are not willing to cut up the cowl they scraped the idea. RealQuick 12-02-2003, 10:01 AM The magna harger for the C5 from LPE is crazy! I met a kid with the C5 at a car show, and all he had was headers, S/C, tuning and thats it and he dynoed 470rwhp. I believe that was on 8psi. When he revved the engine I thought the motor was gonna jump out of the engine bay! I called them today since reading this news, only to hear them say this is not true! The guy said they tryed and tryed but haven't to8ched the idea in over a year, said no matter what it wouldn't fit with the cowl. Are you sure the guy you talked with wasn't refering to their LT1 kit designed for hot rods or custom rides. They will have a kit but not one that fits in the F-body-at least from what I've been told. I talked with them before on this and was told the same thing everytime. The guy said he wished it could happen cause they get thousands of calls each year, and he said there is a big market for them but nothing they can do. Maybe someone else will design a kit for us. Hell I might just get the kit that they sell and just chop up my firewall, who needs a cowl anyway! 2FNFAST 12-04-2003, 12:45 AM RealQuick was that Vette you saw at the car show a white Z06? If so then I think I know who owns it. A freind of mines dad has a 2001 White Z06 with the LPE Magna Charger kit, Hypertech Tuning, and long tubes and thats basically it but I thought theres was at 500 plus HP. No, it was a rich kid (20-21yrs. old). He had a c5 coupe with 20's on the rear and 19's on the front and it was lowered! It was practically rubbing the body just sitting there. Kinda ugly, but its not my car so.... | ||
