WTF pics of the new Vette and the info on a 2007 Camaro and no excitement??
the pics of the white vette..are they photochopped or computer or a C5 thats been worked over?? or they real C6 pics??
and if so no big stink about it???
and the announcement of the return of Camaro in 2007??? with the new GTO and Buick..
I know its just anothe rumor but this one has a date and basically says Camaro in the info...
just wondering if were just become alot of "dry wolf" people and dont bother with it..the PHR pics got more excitement than this and this was just a kids version that has no involvement with GM...

Well, we've known about the Camaro for a while and the C6 was maybe half done and we've also seen alot of pictures it before, just not as good.
That's what happens when you hang out here and places like it with people that have inside knowledge. You find out things way ahead of time and you are excitied then, and then when something becomes "offical," you are instead reasurred of what you already knew or heard.

Everyone pretty much knew the Camaro ws comming back in 2007, and most of the info on the looks of Corvette has also been out awhile.
It's just that this is the 1st time either has been in print (Corvette's picture, and Camaro's return (along with the GTO & Buick) in print from a truly reputable source.
I think to get excitement up higher, we'll need Corvette's performance numbers, and the actual looks of GM's RWD sports coupes before everyone gets excited.

I'm not going to get too excited until we have some official announcment from GM that the Camaro is coming back. I'm sure guinonM's info is pretty much correct, it could change very quickly since GM hasn't made it official. The car is probably further along than most think (people that aren't obessed with it like us), but it could get the ax at anytime. Don't mean to be a downer here, but it could happen. They wouldn't ax it after they officially announced the car.
I'd feel better if I saw some sort of concept car as well!

Why?
1. Chevrolet dealers are demanding a RWD coupe (that isn't like the 4th gen F-body).
2. Bob Lutz is fully aware of how necessary a replacement for the Camaro. Chevy's former General Manager Kurt Ritter with the rest of Chevy's marketing guys (including you know who) really drove home the point with him & GM's executives.
As mentioned, GM won't approve the car till 12 to 18 months before production (They haven't "approved" the Solstice, but you have near production prototypes running around
).Instead of a "believe it when you see it" approach, a more accurate stance might be "unless all h*ll breaks out, it's comming" view here.
I'm excited about the C6, from the pics it looks like a more civilized version of the Viper.
I'm not too excited about a new Fbody.. perhaps that will change when the rumors and spy photos start flying around.
Although that kids retro Camaro does look cool I think cars should move forward.. not back. If I wanted a retro camaro.. I'd build a 67-69 G-machine.

).Don't get me wrong, I feel pretty good about the 5th gen coming out soon, I just want to see a concept or something close to that to make me feel better. Maybe we will see something in Detroit in January, but I doubt it. They won't overshadow the C6 and I really can't blame them for that. It's Chevy's showpiece. I guess it will be Detroit 05 before we see it, unless some spy pics leak out.

I fully understand that they have to improve upon the 4th Gen... but... I needs to remain low, wide, fairly sizable, etc...
Again, (and this seems to be my new trademark statement) I don't want a Chevrolet Mustang...
I think the F-car formula worked very well... it was just old, and antiquated, and anyone coudl see and feel this if they drove even other offerings on the Chevrolet lot... A modern, quality 5th Gen can work... and It doesn't need to be an upright, 2-door sedan to do it.

ok, sure if you want GM to continue selling 30k camaros/year it should be as difficult to get into and out of as possible, have the longest doors of ANY car in production so you couldn't open them but a tiny crack in todays 'compact' lots. it should have a really low seating position too, so that it can have this "i'm stuck in a bunker" feel to it as well to capture the spirit of the Camaro.
as long as its a nice looking, respectible two door RWD with good power and nice interior I wouldn't care too much for it being oversized on the outside and tiny on the inside. obviously it has to have an agressive stance and look like it means business, but besides that, i wouldn't ask for too much more.
Chevy should be making good cars for the masses that's also appealing to enthusiasts with the Camaro. that's what its there for. you want to be more exclusive/agressive, step up to a 'Vette or whatever. but make the camaro SELL and we will have it around for ages.

C4 was hard to get in and out of... far more so than any Camaro... C4 had huge doors... C4 had a super low seating position... guess why? C5 retained all of the good stuff, and got rid of the bad stuff, but didn't change the formula that makes it a Corvette ... Camaro can do that too.
