He's :bs: 'in you buddy. Heck an L98 (350TPI) only puts down 245. My LO3 (305TBI) only has 170hp and an LG4 (305 Carb) is something like 150hp. These motors sure weren't high performance were they.

Well, if I was you, I'd start on exhaust. The stock manifolds on these cars were very restrictive. I'd do headers, then just a cat-back and possibly a high flow cat. Add hp and make it sound nice

i was gonna get a 350 engine. ive heard the 350 has about 300hp, would that be an easy swap? if so, how much would it cost?

A 350 would bolt right in, direct swap. All depending on what kind of induction you choose (TPI/TBI/Carb/CFI). If you go carb of CFI, it'd be a no brainer, TPI/TBI would be a pain because of all the wiring/electronics. And a 350 can have 7hp or 1,000hp. It all depends on what kind of heads/cam/intake/exhaust/etc. Once again, it can be cheap or expensive. Are you looking for a used 350, new? We need more info.

whatever would be the best option, used or new. id like to use it as an everyday driver. i dont want to put it up for show. i think cars are meant to be driven, not put on display. id take whatevers best for my money.

I dont think Berlinetta's came with crossfire engines, but I could be wrong. They were V6's or LG4's.

A 350 engine swap will probably cost you about $2000-3000 for the engine depending on what parts you choose, and probably another $500-1500 to install it.

keep in mind..the higher the horsepower the more likely you will have to swap the rearend, tranny..your also going to end up replacing other parts as well to accomodate the new engine..but hey if you got the money no problem :D

is a new tranny worth the cost? if its not, then whats the highest hp i could get without changing the tranny.

It depends. If youre running slicks, expect a lot less life from the trans. The #1 killer of transmissions is heat, if you can keep it cool and run street tires, a stock 700R4 can maybe hold 400+ hp, assuming its in good shape and has been maintained. Dont expect to help your ET by switching transmissions, usually they are replaced for strength reasons. A higher stall converter will help ETs however.
