I have an 89 black on black GTA with t-tops
the engine and trans are out of the car and now i must decide what to install back into it...
shall i install a regular 350 TPI set up as it came orginally?
OR
shall i install an aluminum head LT1 with a 6 speed to enhance its performance?
i am leaning toward the conversion
any info on what i will need parts wise and what mods will be necessary to complete this conversion will be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks in advance!!!

Do a search. It's been cover 7,000,000 times. Basically it comes down to wiring harness/ecm, notch K-member (only if you're running ac) and some other little things. The electronics will by far be the most expensive part. For just a 6-speed swap, check my sig. Good luck!

I'm looking for info on the same thing and what I found is that painless wiring has a conversion harness that is just for that. The harness I believe is about $600 or so. If you could let me know if you get anymore information.Generalms02@yahoo.com

for wiring harnesses check speartech.com they will customize it to your need.. extra length.. deleted smog etc... pretty much the best harness out there..
I went with the vette accessories to keep a/c.. didn't want to notch anything, for cost effectiveness this is not the way to go..
any questions feel free to pm away.. my car now has the t56 also.. the 4l60e broke a gear...

I don't have experience with the Speartech harness, but I can tell you that the Howell/TPIS harness is an excellent piece. They too will customize the harness to your liking. I had mine extended so that my ECM could be in the stock 3rd Gen location and any emissions stuff was removed as well.
It works great and the guys at TPIS (Jim Hall) were great to work with when ordering and getting everything going.:thumb:
