camarokid128 10-18-2003, 08:36 PM After I saw guionM's post of my concept I thought I might change a few things about it, so I did. Truth be told it will be hard to please everybody whatever the new Camaro looks like, some want curves like the first gens and some want straight lines like the 3rd. It's not impossible to make a car that has a little of all those things but it's also not that easy. So lets take a look at the concept of mine that guionM put up before that I've now changed a little and tell me what you think should be changed about it to make it more suitable to be a Camaro. If you notice in one of the pictures you can see that it obviously has first gen fenders, especially in the back, you can see the grille is reminiscent of the 2nd gen and the headlights kinda look like and are in the same place as the 4th gens, and for the 3rd gen part it could have "Camaro" on it somewhere just like the 3rds had . I have a first gen so I always make my concepts curvy cuz thats what I like and since I used the SS concept it was already curvy, so there wasnt much chance for a third gen lookin car to emerge from me with this particular car. So can this car be changed to be more Camaro, tell me and I'll change it little by little when I can, right now I have a wisdom tooth giving me some problems and I'm having a hard time gettin through my days, one minute I feel like rippin my face off to get that tooth out of there and the next minute I feel like I'm in heaven from the medicine I'm taken, and I'm not sure when I'll get to go to the dentist cuz I havent called yet for an appointment but it better be this week. Anyway, let me know, I hope this link works. Click here. (http://community.webshots.com/album/95471493suEXNn)
HuJass 10-18-2003, 09:25 PM The car looks good in the passenger side profile shot, but too bubbly in the left front 3/4 shot.
jg95z28 10-18-2003, 09:47 PM Don’t go changing, to try and please gui
You never let me down before...
:D
Steve0 10-18-2003, 11:11 PM A shorter rear end, longer nose. The SS concept reminded me alot of the 2nd gen cars, and I think a second gen car's proportions would make it look more "Camaro"
Trying to make the SS Concept a Camaro is kinda wrong IMO because it won't be no matter what you do to it, unless you change the entire car. But just for fun I'll give a few suggestions.
- Take away quarter window.
- Add wrap around taillights and make the silver body colored.
- Add a 4" 3 piece spoiler.
- Make doors shaped more like this (-----) and longer.
- Make side of body have this shape <, a line in the middle in other words.
- More noticable fender flares.
- Take those huge fenders away and slope the angle of the entire front end more. Make the hood and fender area more flat and matching. Add some creases in hood or some design.
- Take away huge 2nd Gen grill, angle the bumper where the Camaro emblem goes in a V shape, and add black around the inside of the headlights. Also make them bigger and more sharply angled while your're at it.
That's all I can think of now but if you did all that I bet you'd have something more "Camaro" there, but like i said it's alot. That car was never meant to be a Camaro and it shows.
Reduce the rear overhang and flatten out the hood/front fender stick-ups. (Where it bulges up.)
Z284ever 10-19-2003, 01:37 AM I'm with IZ28 here. Trying to turn the SS concept into a Camaro is really trying to push alot of water uphill.
Even lowered over what looks like 22" Torque Thrusts, isn't enough to get me going. Maybe a different car should be used as a starting point.
It's just too bland and amorphous. I see next to no tension on the car's skin at all. It's not a Camaro I'd be happy with.
Hope your tooth feels better.:)
camarokid128 10-19-2003, 04:58 PM Ok, I will try some of those things, I dont know how that will end up lookin but I'll try anyhow. The only reason I asked what can be done to this car is becuz it turned up in the other thread so I figured maybe we could change it around a little bit.
I get my tooth cut out Tuesday, woohoo!
camarokid128 10-19-2003, 07:13 PM Hows this so far, I did a few of the things suggested, I wanna know if this is any better before I keep going. Check #3, #1 and #2 are the old ones,.
Hope the link works, link here. (http://community.webshots.com/album/95471493suEXNn) If #3 isnt there yet give it about 30 minutes for the page to update.
Demon_Cleaner 10-19-2003, 07:42 PM Hmmm, I like your #2 rendition better than the third . Do you think you can make the grille more "rounded" and less like the RX8's grille? You know, without the dip, more like the 98+ grille. Maybe throw in a Z28 or SS emblem in it too. That'd be great. Maybe another color? Hugger Orange? Silver? Personally, your #2 rendition is the best.
HuJass 10-19-2003, 07:43 PM I don't think you can turn the SS into a Camaro.
Image #3 looks too cartoon-ish.
DaxsZ28 10-19-2003, 07:44 PM I like pic #1. I saw it earlier this week in guionM's post, but I was at work and didn't have time to post anything. I actually forgot about it until I saw it again today. The front needs some work, but other than that, I like it.
unvc92camarors 10-19-2003, 08:48 PM i think you're beating a dead horse here
i don't think that the ss concept could ever be changed into a camaro
jmho
camarokid128 10-19-2003, 09:06 PM Oh well then.
Z284ever 10-19-2003, 09:07 PM Sorry, all I see is a pumped up Karmann Ghia with TorqueThrusts.:(
unvc92camarors 10-19-2003, 09:32 PM sorry if i came off rude in that last post...
i just think that that isn't something that could ever reflect camaro, albeit you did give it a nice try:)
Yup. Trying to do something impossible isn't worth doing.
camarokid128 10-20-2003, 09:02 AM So what would be a good car to start with, I have a little time to spare so I might could try something everybody might think is a little more likely.
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 10-20-2003, 09:10 AM One concept I've always been crazy about was the 99 Charger. Ever since then I've been telling myself that newer concepts will grow on me and I'll learn to like them (i.e. Mustang, SS, SSR). I fell for the Charger the moment I laid eyes on it.
It's not a GM car, but has a good shape. I don't know if you could work with the pictures, but it would be a nice start I think. Only thing is, I wouldn't hold my breath for a new Camaro to come out resembling it.
Z284ever 10-20-2003, 10:13 AM What if we started with something like this?

I could actually see that going somewhere. It has "Camaro" dimensions in my eyes. (long hood, hatch backish) Just give it more Camaro futures and maybe we have a winner. See if we can find a better picture of that and start playing with it.
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 10-20-2003, 10:32 AM This has nice proportions and shape....This is what I'm talking about when I say it has to harken back to Camaro's, but take it's own direction. The charger pulled it off....too bad it's not here...
Dimensions:
Length: 187"
Width: 73"
Height: 52"
Wheelbase: 113"
Weight: 3375 lbs.

camarokid128 10-20-2003, 12:04 PM I had actually thought about using this (http://www.supercars.net/SDBQ?y=2003&m=Aston%20Martin&o=AMV8%20Vantage%20Concept) picture for a concept, what do you think? I like the first Charger pic, I can see doing something with these.

May as will try it out! I think the SS looks fine, but maybe not as a Camaro. However, the Aston Martin has a very "Camaro-like" shape in my mind, so I imagine it would make a good base.
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 10-20-2003, 12:26 PM Some thoughts on the charger:
-eliminate the "+" on the grill and replace it with something more 3rd gen'ish
-Make the doors a little longer
-try to work in a forward leaning B pillar
-delete the side scoops and maybe add some ribbing ala '69 camaro in front of rear wheels for some texture
Rear visibility would be something to work out though....
Vantage could work too....Hope you feel better soon!
;)

Even better! That was actually the pic I was looking for.
Let's go for it!
91Zman 10-20-2003, 02:39 PM I did a little tweaking of camarokid's SSconcept>I couldn't do the hood right-adding a scoop-so I left it plain for anyone else to work on it.http://community.webshots.com/photo/20197065/95801363uBTZWF
camarokid128 10-20-2003, 02:45 PM Ok, all those things sound easy enough to do and I think will look very good, I have to go to school tonight and then tomorrow I get my wisdom tooth cut out, so I'll work on them when I get home tonite and before I go to the dentist tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have something to put up tomorrow afternoon or late evening unless I am in to much pain tomorrow when I come home, hopefully they give me something for the pain and if they do I'll be feelin pretty good if you know what I mean and thats when the creative juices really get goin! So I'll put those up when I can and we'll go from there. Thanks for the support guys and wish me luck for tomorrow.
91Zman 10-20-2003, 02:46 PM Try it again,should work now..:)
camarokid128 10-20-2003, 02:50 PM It does, I think I woulda made the black around the lights body color but other than that it looks good.

Ya know, that doesn't look half-bad. :) Nice work.
91Zman 10-20-2003, 11:02 PM thanks:cool:
91Zman 10-21-2003, 12:31 AM here's another only slightly shorter in the back.http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=showMyPhoto&albumID=20197065&photoID=95880876&security=mSRSDy
camarokid128 10-21-2003, 12:11 PM Here's what I've got done with the suggested 2 so far, where do we take them from here? I havent finished everything already suggested, I'll get to it all later hopefully tonite if I feel better or if not tonite then tomorrow.
#4 and #5 (http://community.webshots.com/album/95471493suEXNn)
Z284ever 10-21-2003, 02:37 PM #4 seems like good start, mostly because it's got close to the right proportions. I'm not really familiar with what can be done with the program that you're using, but here's some things I'd like to see.
A more agressive nose with a deeper air dam/bottom breather opening and round driving/fog lights. Some better character lines/creases would be good....for example the rear quarter panel might have a more "muscular shoulder". I'd also go with 4 round tail lights for the rear fascia.
I wonder how the the wheel/tire/ brakes package from the C6 spy pics would look like on this car? Also, the C6's lower rocker panel would give this car some badly needed character.
EDIT:
Also, up until the 4th gen....Camaro had a more defined/creased wheel opening lip that really helped differentiate it from Fierbird. I'd bet #4 would look great with that too.
Sorry bud...I wish I could PS, so I wouldn't be such a pain in your butt.:)
camarokid128 10-21-2003, 07:09 PM So when you say the C6 wheels you do mean the black wheels right. I had actually thought about doing the C6 rocker panel, and almost did but put it off to see what ya'll said first. Should I even keep going with the Charger, theres plenty more that can be done to it, if I just had a better idea of what everyone thought would look the best in general, then it wouldnt take so long and wouldnt be so hard for me to put these things together. And if anyone happens to have or know of a good pic of the C6 at the right angle that I could get the wheels off of or any pic of a newer Camaro sitting at the right angle with wheels that you think might look good that would be helpful if you would send them to me, if any of you guys have any ideas or anything to show me just send it to my email at CamaroKid128@aol.com or IM me at the same name. Thanks guys.
