How can a preserve autographs on my Z?
Anyone out there who got autographs in the engine compartment? How can I keep them from fading off. I just got them 2 days ago at SLP day by Ed Hamburger and Scott are "Father" of the Camaro.
Ok i don't know where exactly they signed it or if it can be applicable but......
Office max sells some clear stick on laminating sheets. Maybe you can get some and trim it down to the correct size and stick it on over the sig. I think that would work.

Clear coat, definitely. Clear coat protects the paint of a car, and will do the same for the signature.
Clear coat is probably your best option.
As an example, my father-in-law is restoring a '62 Fuel Injected Corvette... behind the passenger seat, during tear down, and after sand blasting off the several layers of different colors of paint , they found "SILVER" written in black magic marker. This was probably form the factory, so they preserved this by clear coating it, and then painting around it. Very cool, plus it is totally hidden by the seat when it is installed.
Since cars didn't have a trim tag or anything that documented actual original factory color back then, this was a great find!

Careful with the clear coat!
Scott signed mine about 3 years ago with a paint pen and I hit it with a quick spray of clear when I got home (3 days later). The signature mixed with the clear and turned into a silver puddle!

You definately want to make sure (if it is a paint pen) that the paint has had time to fully cure!
Well its with one of them permanent silver markers, it has been 5 days now since I got my Z signed.
