Who here has chromed ot their bottle, or knows how

I would like to sand down and polish my 10# Nitrous Express bottle so it comes out chrome. Has anyone done this? Is it safe? can it be done? Does anyone have any pictures or any guides? Thanks a BUNCH.

umm, its not chrome to start with, so it will not come out chrome.
But I dont see why you wouldnt be able to polish it, jsut dont take too much material away in the process. I'm not sure if they are steel or not, but if it is steel you may want to clear coat it or soemthing, but if its aluminium it should be ok.

Tanks are usually Aluminum. I have seen Chrome Tanks by NOS. Chroming is an electro-chemical plating process. I know it can be done afterwards but do not know of any shops.

You can not chrome a bottle. But you can have them polished.

You can take the bottle to a shop that does chroming and they will chrome it. Chrome will look a lot better than if it's polished.

Like I said you can't chrome a bottle the heat will weaken the aluminum.

I do not believe that much heat is generated in the process...

Besides, do you think there would be any difference in plating a tank before or after it is sold to the consumer. Chrome NOS tanks are not new...

Straight off their web site

Aluminum Nitrous Bottles
Edelbrock nitrous bottles are made of aluminum alloy, are D.O.T. approved and include an Edelbrock high-flow CGA approved valve with a built-in siphon tube (unless noted otherwise) for consistent performance. In six sizes to suit any application, Edelbrock bottles are powder-coated silver or polished. They include a pressure venting system to prevent pressure increases beyond the safety level. Note: All bottles are shipped empty.
