head gaskets that hold for +900 BHP

When I make a hard pass in my car, it just doesn't sound right or idle right for the next 50-100 miles and I sometimes smell antifreeze (no antifreeze in oil and the exhaust looks normal)...very slight difference (like a slight "whop, whop, whop" sound under the sound of the idle and it misses every once in awhile). It pulls good under load so I suspect I'm lifting or loosing the seal on my head gaskets and they are resealing with normal driving. Has anyone else had this experience? I use the felpro gasket as I really didn't want to go to a o-ringed or copper head gasket for a street application. Are there any other alternatives out there for high cylinder pressures? I heard about a sealant some folks were using on their felpro gasket and having success with it--any experience with it, what is it called, and where get I get it? Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated....thanks!! CT

I run 16-18 psi of boost on the following engine mods:

LT4-398 (clone) Eagle 3.875" stroke 4340 forged, 6" Lunati ProMod rods, Diamond 12cc dish custom pistons, Cloyes double roller, Meizure Electric water pump, Speedpro file fit rings, AFR 220 76cc LT4 Race Ported heads w/addition port work, LT4 ported intake, BBK 58 MM throttlebody, ceramic coated long tube headers, Taylor wires, Comp. signiture pushrods, Comp-R roller lifters, Comp custom grind (224-236 114LSA 114ICL .622 Int. .644 Ext. small base circle cam), Jesel Comp. shaft mount rockers 1.65 ratio, 83# Fuel Injectors, Custom/modded fuel rails, Prototype Aeromotive AFPR, MSD 6A ign. box, MSD Coil, Accell Gen. VII+ w/wideband, billet crankshaft hub (keyed), Custom ASP crank pulley (7" 6-rib outboard, 7.6" 8-rib inboard), custom supercharger bracket, Procharger D1SC w/3.4" pulley, Intercooler, twin intank Walbro fuel pumps, McLeod steel twin clutch, Fastrtrack wiring harness, and lots of other stuff....

Your mistake is by not going to a copper head gasket. I have ran o-ringed setups for sometime and also do some street driving. When ya get tired of changing head gaskets trying to get aggressive with either boost or nitrous do the right thing and go with a o-ringed block. If done correctly you will not have any leak problems. I have yet to have any coolling system leaks of any sort. But if you want a recommendation for head gasket to try give commetic gaskets a call they make some really killer head gaskets for bikes and car's. I have a turbo charged Hayabusa running 18lbs of 15lbs of boost and no problems yet, even been up to 18lbs with no problems.

Thanks guys! I'll check out the Cometic gasket before the heads come off.

Highly unlikely.

I belive MTI uses the Cometic gaskets in their FI stroker motors. But (I think) they spray on a metalic coating on them to help seal.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the post...sorry we didn't get to take a ride before you left. I'll fill it with good gas and we'll beat on it the next time you're in town...unless you're helping me change head gaskets, of course! lol I took Mark from Raging Motorsports for a ride and he now wants to get my car on his dyno to see what it makes--yikes! Keeping a secret from that group is pretty tough. Also, I talked with Chris for a while...does he still work at MC Racing? I got the impression he may have quit and went back to work at Procharger--have you heard anything? He was telling me about the new big-big twin highflows they will be coming out with in the near future...now, if we can just figure out how to get them to fit in my car!
Got to run!

Yes, I belive Chris now went back to ATI. I don't talk to him much but that is what I hear anyway.
