ive heard this alot before "my car is all original" "this car is all original" what does it mean? is it that the only things replaced were maintenence items, or that only things on this car are made for this year/model like say a camaro blows a tranny and one the exact same was put in. is this car now not all orginal because of the replacement? is all original that every part on the car is what came from the factory installed on the car.

this has been bugging me

Thats one the most over used catch phrases there is!
In "for sale adds" you always see all original except paint,or motor, but has original spare tire.
Paint, motor, trans, rear end and interior makes something original.
If you don't have all this then write "nice old car for sale and tell about it.
If you don't have those things on your car stop trying to fool someone with a fancy paragraph because chances are they have a car friend who will catch it and make you look like a dummy!
People are going to have to realize paint wasn't sopposed to last 35 years.

That term is open to interpretation by the one saying it:D

I hear a lot of people using that phrase "loosely".

Wounld't it constitute as all original if a car was repainted with the same factory color it came with.

To me "original" means unbastardized with aftermarket parts and having the "original" motor.

if a paint job is OK then a different motor is OK also.
Would you want to buy a car called all original only to find out even thou it has an original 396 its a 300 horse instead of the original 350 horse?

orignal to me would be untouched orignal factory parts that came with THAT car, and with 100% matched #s.

same here, say if i blow my tranny and instead of fixing it i swap in a new one, car is not all matching #s so car is not all original

So if you change your spark plugs or tires its not original then. As long as its oem parts that came with the car from the factory to me that would be original.

well tires... u can still get the factory tires that came with that yr and make/model.. like those skinny white wall ones.

but ur taking it a little to far to say a car isn't orignal cuz u changed the sparkplugs, thats just silly.

"naw its not orignal, i changed the oil"

thats what im talking about. If it was on the car to start with and is oem then I'd consider it original. Original paint color for that car would fall in that catagory also to me.

Its going to get to the point that there is not going to be any cars with original paint and that is going to struck off the list.
I myself really am not an original freak.
I like to buy cars that have new paint and no rust and all new parts.
My 70 is new from front to back and its like driving one right out of 1970 with cool mods done to it to make it better.
Yeaterday I was sitting on the porch and a 70 Chevelle SS396 stopped at the light right in front of me,it was dirty and still had the firestone wide ovals and the old 1976 brown and white licence plate from Indiana and my county.
I bet he just got it running and was taking it home?
Anyway that car is worth money but just think of all the money he is going to spend on it and then restored it will really be worth some money.
You just have to know what to look for and know cars really good to get what you pay for.
