Info on the Langley scene - JH and Cruise In

I was speaking to some people involved in the Langley Cruise In today (and they are also always amongst the groups of people who frequent the JH... the older scene), and it sounds like there is a lot of negativity about the Langley Scene continuing. They are discussing cancelling the Cruise In next year. And, apparently the lease for the parking lot at Java Hut is up this year, and the owners of the lot are strongly considering not allowing JH to stay.

As for the Cruise In, apparently there were a few events that happened that have got the organizers feeling they don't want to have it again. One was the girl getting hit - not directly related, but indirectly. Also, apparently when the streets were blocked off Saturday morning, some retired crossing guard got the crap beaten out of him by some guy who took objection to the fact that he wasn't allowed to drive on it. There were a few other things too, though less drastic.

As for Java Hut, it seems like the shop owners of Visions and Just for Ladies Fitness have been complaining that their customers have no parking and are losing business (a real possibility, I guess). And, the owners of the property are not happy with the 'car antics' happening, so have been implying that they will not allow JH to renew its lease next year.

Whether any of this happens or its just people talking/venting (which typically happens every year), I don't know. It is possible, just like the A&W, Timmies, and Mr Hamburger... It also doesn't really matter either I guess...

Just food for thought. The everchanging wheel spins again.

If it is not there it will be somewhere else. There are lots of places to meet that no one thinks off. For example, there are the fast food joints on 200th my Chapters (Timmies etc). The 'community' will just move. Back in my younger days, the place to meet was Lumberland on Fraser HWY. (it was vacant for a while, now it is a truck dealership I think)

I thought Mr. Hamburger continued to welcome the car community? No?

It seems to me that there should be an oppotunity for some entrepreneur to CATER to car clubs. I guess Cruisers tries to as well.

It could be time to mark out new territory. Coquitlam is ripe for the picken. Mainly mustangs hanging out at the two Wendys Tim Horton's out here in Poco. I like to do a little smoke show in front of them. :p Only a couple of minutes away from the Port Mann bridge. ;)

I'll second that, maybe the early days of Langley ~5 years ago.
