92 Corvette 6speed in my car?

In my AutoTech class at school we have a 92 Corvette w/ 7,000 miles on it. It was flooded but is now running and driving fine, I was just wondering if that 6 speed will go in my car? Is it the same as the ones in F-body's?

I'm 99% sure it will. They didn't go to the transaxle until like ~97/98.

Transaxle in '97. A '92 T56 will work but it doesn't have the desirable double overdrive gear.

The 89 to 96 vettes have a german ZF 6 speed. Strong, but parts are tough to get. Used to have to turn in whole tranny when they were under warranty, don't know about now. Don't know how tough it would be to swap.

Yes he is right. It is a ZF not a Borg Warner. I forgot all about that. I remember a few years back somone on this board was swapping one into their third gen and was having a hard time with it because of the rear tranny mount. Apparently the bolts go in horizontally for the tranny mount? I am not sure. Check www.thirdgen.org someone over there could probably help you.

I wouldnt worry about it. I talked to the guy over on thirdgen.org about putting one in since my friend is a vette collector and I could get one cheap. The cost would be amazing, let alone finding the parts to do the swap. You are better off just waiting on a T56.

As stated it's a ZF German trans. It is larger that the T56 and makes swapping difficult. You have to masssge the tunnel quite a bit. It is very expensive and parts are very expensive. However it is strong and shifts very nicely.

I'd go for the Salee one which looks more like a bolt on than the Vette one. Just my $0.02. That is unless you are getting the Vette one for free. Even then screwing with the tranny tunnel might not be a fun thing.
