TH 350 tranny????

I'm wanting to get a TH 350 for my 91 Z but dont know if I need the long or short tail shaft...anyone know??? What else do I need to get to get it all to work? I know I need the torque arm mount, but what else?

long tail shaft I believe.

anyone know for sure? I can get a short tail shaft tranny from my uncle for free. could I just get a longer drive shaft or would it be better to find a long tail shaft tranny?

I have a 1991 with a short tall shaft th350...I ended up buying a new tailshaft that was longer. I was told after I already had my trans built that if I would have used a long tail shaft th350 I could have retained my stock driveshaft.

Short tail shaft transmissions are cheaper and easier to come by. I would get a short tail shaft transmission and then get a driveshaft out of an 82-83 f-body with a 200c 3 speed automatic transmission.

what crossmember do I use with a short tail TH350?

The rear mount is in the same position on both long and short tailshaft TH350's. The swap kit available supplies an adaptor bracket to convert from the 700R4 to TH350. It also provides a way to mount the torque arm onto the tranny however I'd suggest getting an aftermarket torque arm such as the one from www.spohn.net

The 9" long tailshaft TH350 uses the same driveshaft as the 700R4. The 6" short tailshaft can use the driveshaft from an 82-83 F-body that came with the metric 200 3 speed.

Or you can use either and just get a custom made driveshaft.
