350 question
350 question
will the older model 350 engine fit in a 4th gen z28 like are the motor mounts in the same location or will i have to do some welding/cutting or an engine plate to put it in my car. if so i am going to wait to get it running when i finish my lt1 up thanks for any info
Your gonna have to modify the fuel lnes for a carbed engine, But I see your doing that anyway. If your planning on actually going to carburation, I would get an old running core and do all of your modifications with that. then build your badass and do your finishing touches with that. I am sure that the motor mounts will work. Is that a 6-speed or auto?
motor mounts are same for lt1.. not sure about ls1 but i *think* they are different location... why are you going to put a gen 1 sb in your 4th gen? seems like a waste of time etc... also depending on year of engine... illegal

Yes LS1 mounts are different, But I don't think that the smog in Tennessee, so youll be fine. I can see why you would want to go with a gen1, theyre easier to get power from than an LT1. IF and WHEN you do this, I have a 4-bolt main 350 sitting in my garage that I'll trade for an LT1
it is an automatic i am just putting an older model in so i can drive the car and when my 4th gen lt1 is finished i will be putting it back into the car which i am going carb on it too. so the motor mounts are the same location?
The big problem is fitting the SBC distributor under the cowl. It can be done with a "pancake" style distibutor, and possibly alterations to the windshield wipers. You will also find it a bit hard to close the hood with most carb/manifold combos. Just hope you don't have to pull the distibutor out for any reason after the engine is in the car.
Sorry About the long reply time. The 350 has never been bored or machined. It's out of a 75 4X4 im pretty sure. Im wanting to get an LT1 to build while I've got the money to throw in it. I've got 4 or 5 different small blocks and assorted big blocks from all of the big 3, but no LT1's.

P.S. the Power steering will need to be modified to fit. New custom lines will take care of it.
