Went to track, couldnt be more pissed off

Well, first off ill start by telling what i actually ran and then ill tell you why im pissed.
3 passes
1st ------- 2nd-------3rd
.725------ .494------.817 -------R/T
2.6------- 2.6-------2.55 -------60'
6.7------- 6.76------6.52 -------330
61.52----- 52.31-----60.41-----mph
9.713----- 10.141----9.556-----1/8
81.51----- 74.86 ----83.02-----mph

Now then, first off i have never been to a track ever. Never studied the light off the start. I should of but didn't, i got there to late.
Also i have street tires, that are pretty bald.

1st run- I had my nitrous hooked up and i thought i could just ease into first and then nail it and not spin, wrong idea. I spun off the start, into second and most of second and then hooked finnaly.

2nd run- straight motor- I thought i started off good, not to much spinning, and then hit second and damn near lost control and started to spin like crazy. Then i easied into 2nd and then finally romped on it.

3rd run- Spun off the start of course and then hit second and easied into it and then the top of second i shot the juice, shifted and went to 3rd.

I am VERY pissed, the thing that i am pissed about the most is that i thought that i would have more traction on the strip than the street. I never even scratch second gear on the street. WTF

Also something that i think contributed to this is that my water pump went out. I dont know when exactly, but on my last run i looked down after the race and it was at like 230. So hopefully that added to the bad times. Also my damn reaction times sucked ***, i was damn near about to **** on myself everytime i pulled up to the light. I am almost positive that if i just get some d.r. or e.t. streets and go out to the track when i can get like 10 passes that i should do ALOT better.

Here is the list of my mods- m6
lt4 hotcam kit
lt4 intake ported, stock heads ported
hooker lt's
lanes x-pipe exhaust
100 shot of the juice
mcleod street twin clutch

ET Streets will definetly help out. As I always say though an M6 + traction = 10-bolt . Especially with a street twin. Take it easy on the launch and don't hit the nitrous until 2nd gear.

You're NOT going to get traction on street tires or drag radials with the street twin. Trust me. I was running low 13's, and the only time I took the street twin out, I was going 13.7's. The only way to get too times at the track with that thing is slicks, but 10 bolt beware, you'll snap it. My short times dropped from 1.9's to 2.1's just from the clutch. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't recommend the street twin unless you're running a 12 bolt and slicks at the track, and don't do too much street driving since it's so hard to get a nice smooth launch from it.

You also need to just plain go to the track more and practice. That's the ONLY way you're gonna figure out how your car reacts to different launch techniques. Figure that out and you can be more effective.

I have gone 2.0x 60's on my stock clutch with DR's, and have seen many other pull 1.9's with the stock clutch. Granted my stocker doesn't like sticky tracks and DR's anymore, but I managed to get just over 170 passes with it before it started slipping on me.

Are you sure your car is running OK?

I think you should be running *at least* 5mph more N/A than you did on your third run.

I know stock LT1s generally do around 80mph in the 1/8. And you have Hotcam and ported heads. So, I'd check things out...

And yeah, sometimes tracks are really bad traction-wise!
