Running W/ No muffler..will it gain HP??

i had the pipe that goes right before the muffler cut so its basicly like my muffler is not connected...will i get any horsepower gains from this?? whats the diffrence between this and gettin a cut out right before the muffler?..one thing i did notice besides the more powerful sound is that my fuel economy seems to have went waaay down all of sudden since i did this..can disconnecting the mufflerhave any type of effect on gas mileage?..oh my car is pretty much stock by the way..someone shed some light on this(especially those who have done this before) ..thanks guys

Less restriction in the exhaust = more power. If you take the muffler and tail pipes totally off, you'd drop some weight too.

As for drop in fuel economy, that could be so many different things. Maybe because your car has gotten louder, your on the gas pedal more?

Yeah, it'd be just like a cutout.

You will lose bottom end tq, but gain upper rpm hp. As stated above gas mileage might be due to you just hitting the gas harder.

Bottom end loss goes hand in hand with worse mpg. I would imagine most of your driving is in the lower rpms?
