Post Would I see gains on a Hooker catback over WS6 exhaust?

I read my last replies on how Hooker was a good, solid catback--but I have to admit; the stock WS6 exhaust is pretty throaty in itself and would imagine it flows okay. Would I see any real gains with a Hooker over what I have now? Let me know

All of the catbacks (Hooker included) will give you a minimal (<10hp) gain over the stock WS6 catback on an otherwise stock car. I would imagine the difference could go up as you mod more and more though.
Plus, the Hooker sounds awesome and has quad tips...
Good luck,
Shane

Thanks for somebody FINALLY replying! whew.. Didn't think the question was TOO hard. I think I might go with Loudmouth still. I KNOW that will put some power to the wheels.. Just don't know yet.

I read in magazine a while back a go, that they took a stock LS1 WS6 and ran a dyno on it. They then installed the B&B triflo exhaust (I believe) and also dyno'ed it. Their gain = 1hp

It cost them $600 dollars for 1 hp. They said that with a stock Trans Am/Camaro Z28 gains could be 7-10, but with a WS6/SS exhaust it flows very well.

I'm not saying that another cat-back won't yeild more HP, but with a WS6, you won't get to much more then a nice "throaty" sound (not that its a bad thing ). So, just know you're getting more sound then HP.

If you want real HP gains, do a cut out or true duals.

...as for me, I took off my stock Z28 exhaust and added a '98 SS single outlet exhaust. It was a tad bit louder, but I know I gained a few poines - plus the exhaust was free.

OK, then what about SLP Loudmouth? They claim 25hp over factory exhaust (even though I'm guessing they're talking about regular T/A's and Z28's..) Would Loudmouth put any power to the wheels??

mark, all the catbacks seem to produce similar dyno numbers on the LS1s. So, your hp gain over the WS6 exhaust is going to be minimal, no matter what brand of catback you go for.

good luck!
