Anybody using Autotap for a non LS1 application?

My father wants to buy Autotap so that he can use it on his 2000 GMC Sierra. He's got the 5.3 V8. I'm on the autotap site and I'm a tad confused. They have the "AutoTap Hardware and AutoTap for Windows with Manufacturer's Enhanced Parameters" kit for $289.95, which I assume is the kit we'd need to interface with his truck. For a few bucks more they have the various EFILive kits to interface with the LS1. My questions are:

1. If we purchase the Regular kit with enhanced parameters, will one of the EFILive add-on kits work with our hardware?

2. If we purchase the EFILive setup for $300 or $350, will that work with the truck and the LS1 vehicles, or are the two mutually exclusive?

Basically what it boils down to is that he's buying it for his truck, but if the EFILive crap will work with the LS1 and his truck, I'd rather see him get that incase I buy a C5 or an LS1 f-body some time down the road. Thanks for the help. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

I autotapped my 10 speed bike. I got a "lack of use" code. Whatever that means. http://web.camaross.com/bb/confused.gif

Jim,

Call AutoTap (B&B Electronics) and ask to talk to Joe. The guy knows pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about the software. His phone number is 815 433 5100 x-242. I've talked to him on a couple occasions. I think he can clear that up for you in a minute or two easily.

I know my brother uses it on his 98 GTP, then can swap it right over onto my 98 Formula without doing anything.

I AutoTapped my ass for ya and it said "kiss me" ?

The GM AutoTap should work on 98 and newer GM vehicles. Info at http://www.autotap.com
There's a tech # there too. I just downloaded the new windows version but I'm not feeling like shelling out the dough for the new hardware.

You don't need the new hardware unless you plan on using the other software OR you want the faster connection rate. Otherwise the current hardware with version 2.0 will work fine.
