Redline 7000-7500rpm. Weiand 1984 Hi-Ram Tunnel Ram. What carbs should I run? I would personally think something like a dual 525cfm setup, Summit Racing are telling me dual 450cfm but that's probably just cuz they sell dual 450's in their kit lol, and Holley tech are telling me dual 660 center squirters.... who do I believe? Theres a big F*****' difference between a dual 660 and a dual 450 - I want some serious power increase from my tunnel ram but I don't want it to be overcarburated but I don't want to have "room to improve" either, I wanna be right where it should be first time round. I can get a good deal on a tunnel ram and dual 450 carbs right now for $350 but I don't wanna buy it if I need different carbs.

What are you doing with it? race do 660's street the 450's will get you better driveability. how heavy is the car? what gear?
If you are going to spin it hard then the bigger carbs will be better. Holley does know its ****, if they told you 660's go with them, Jegs and Summit want to sell parts and have a parts jocky trying to talk you into something you probably wont like. Sorry I realy dont have ADD.........

It's a bracket car, it'll see some street, but with a 4600 stall, drivability wont be that big of a concern. 84 camaro weighing around 3000lbs with 33" diameter tires and a 4.88 rear gear and a turbo 400 transmission. the guy at holley basically told me that my motor needs 750cfm at least on a single plane, n with a tunnel ram I'll be pretty much doubling the plenum volume so will want to almost double the carburetion too, which makes sense to me. just wanted to see others opinions too.

Holley's 660 recommendation is the one I'd go with. The problem is not in "overcarburetion"... it's lack of booster signal. You could actually run a well built 750 with annular boosters and a well tuned metering circuit and still get the same level of off idle response. Just takes know-how but the 660 combo is tried and true. I'd expect your combo to make good power to 7k but not really much more than that.

Good luck.

Thanks for confirming that, I'll go with the 660's for sure. I'm not expecting anything over 7000 but it'd be a nice surprise to get it up to 7500 :D I've never built a tunnel ram motor before so I thought I'd try something new.

Does anyone have any pics of a 3rd gen camaro with a tunnel ram stickin outta the hood? preferably with a street scoop (the 3 butterfly flap style ones)?
