Can't get crank pulley/hub off, what am I doing wrong?

I rented a damper pulley from autozone today, but I can't get the pulley and hub off. Some people said they have been able to remove the pulley from the hub with little trouble, but I can't. So I'm pulling them both off at the same time. I have all the bolts out, and I can barely turn the puller anymore, but the damn pulley and hub are not coming out. I'm stuck until I get this off, help plz!!

It should just have the 3 bolts holding it onto the hub. Mine came off without even using a puller.

Once i got the pully off, remove the center bolt holding the hub on. Put in a longer 7/16th, 20 thread bolt, taper the ends of the threads, and use that to pusha gainst to pull the hub off.

If you have the bolts out, just hook up a big breaker bar to your puller, it will come off as long as it is being pulled straight.

Also make sure you put some grease on the threads of the puller. I didnt do this and it stripped some of the threads from me putting so much pressure on it. These things are a pain to get off but hey if they wasnt I am sure it would be dangerous. If you take the 3 bolts off the balancer just take a rubber mallet and hit it in all three corners and it should come on off.

Ditto that. You need to make srue taht you're pushing inside against the CRANK when you try to remove the hub and not fight against it. What I used in a pinch is my single middle bolt, threaded it a few threads and used that to push against.

If you don't put something down through the threads of the hub to the crank, you are merely trying to pull the hub apart. You will end up breaking the hub or the puller. The hub is not hollow in the center like an old SBC balancer.

Ahhh, that's it!! You're a lifesaver. If I threaded the crank bolt in almost all the way would that be ok to push against?

That's what I pushed against...but, you may need to back the bolt out a bit as you go. I just put it in a couple turns...and had just enough length on my puller to get it all the way off...
