Ya... I get a bit depressed and mad when I really just stop and think about the whole situation.... so sad. :(
HuJass 06-05-2003, 07:11 PM 'Birds & T/As rule!!! :D
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 06-05-2003, 07:43 PM OMG...That's pathetic!!
At first I thought those numbers were a ratio....It couldn't possibly be that low!
It's so bad I can't stop laughing!!!
Chris 96 WS6 06-05-2003, 07:47 PM I dunno, considering the DON'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE those aren't bad numbers,LOL.
But I agree, the entire situation is depressing if you think about it.
25thTA 06-05-2003, 07:49 PM Are these left over 2002's? If that's the case, Firebird outselling Camaro isn't anything to brag about. Just means they moved fewer off the lot last year.
It's depressing any way you look at it. But, I was just saying today how great it feels to drive my Firehawk every day. I can't get over how good of a car it is :D Right now I wouldn't trade it for any 2003 on the market and can only hope there's something like it in about 5 years from now.
I wonder how many 2002 left overs are still on dealers lots?
RiceEating5.0 06-05-2003, 07:58 PM We're 6 months into 2003, and 2004 models are right around the corner, and they (GM) still haven't finished selling the last of the f-bods from 2002:(. That is sad. You'd think people would rush to the dealers and snatch of what remains of this nameplate.

Why so they can get ****ed hardcore on resale like I am. I shoulda thought more before I bought a 2 year old new car:(
number77 06-05-2003, 08:12 PM i thought all the dealers were marking them up?

I agree.
They are selling more left over Firebirds because more people bought Camaros when they were actually in production, but it is only a difference of 9. I think the Firebird probably does look a little better.
Jason E 06-06-2003, 01:03 AM Hey, I sold one of those 100 in May :D How many of you can say that ?!?!?!?! :D
In case anyone was curious, one of those 100 was Firehawk #1369, a black Trans Am Firehawk convertible. Black, black leather, black top, Bilstein, Chrome wheels, Hurst shifted 6 speed...went to my best friend's mother's boyfriend. What a car it was too...would have sold eons ago if I had ordered the damn thing as a coupe
I still have 2 left...with luck, they'll make June or July sales??? :D People come to look all the time, but with them both being convertibles, they're tough sales. I never would have ordered any of them, but my sales manager insisted on having at least a few verts...and they all sat.
I did a search today for a V6 Firebird coupe, thinking maybe I could dump the Grand Am and buy one for a driver...closest one to me is in NC! Theres only about 25 V6 Firebird coupes left nationwide...they're drying up my friends :(
guionM 06-06-2003, 09:50 AM Look at it this way, the f-bodies have been dead for almost a year, and they STILL are selling more units than BMW sells M3s! :D
(normally 12-15,000 per year)

Satellite98 06-07-2003, 04:31 PM But Firebirds have cooties ;)
I agree, I like the hood/front end of the 'Bird, BUT the 98+ Camaro has really grown on me too.
I prefer the sleek spoiler of the Camaro (when viewed from the side or 3/4 front)

mpfarout,
Actually, you are wrong on this account.
The engine that is used in all '98+ V-8 F-bodies is NOT a Chevy engine. It's a clean sheet design that shares NOTHING in common with the old small block Chevy. No parts are interchangable.
This was a new engine developed by GM Powertrain.
It is truly a corporate engine.
(however, the bore spacing is the same at 4.4 inches. But this doesn't make the LS1 a Chevy engine. It is not.)

Yeah, I know you're right....but I'll always think of it as the GENIII smallblock Chevy.
