Chris Ja 08-30-2002, 09:37 PM I wanted to do a few more mods to the IROC for Woodward. I didn't get a chance too. So I started yesterday to make sure they were done before M7.
I installed a strut tower brace to start. What a difference it made. I have had the frame tied for many years so I was not expecting to much from the STB. I had it laying in the garage for two years. Man I wish I had done this a long time ago.
Next I am going to dress up the engine compartment with some braided lines. Just to make it look a little better.
Then the NOS kit goes on.
Last the 87 IROC wheels are getting polished and I will be running on DR's.
I am looking to go 1.0 to 1.5 faster than last year. Will try a 150 shot just to see what happens.
Looking forward to another great event.

Chris Ja 08-30-2002, 10:18 PM Well Dave if you guys would quit adding Mods I would not have to. It's hard when you are trying to race with a 3rd gen. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield. I don't get any respect.
Yes I have never gotten over you killing my WS6 on Gratiot. http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif Dave I know I will never be the fastest but would like to at least be in the top 20%. Chris Ja 08-30-2002, 10:50 PM Here is a question for you guys. I posted these in the GT110 thread but want to make sure alot of people see this.
I am installing a NOS wet kit on my engine. It is a wet kit. I have a Lingenfelter motor with the SuperRam induction system. I have heard you should not run a wet kit because it can leak fuel and backfire causing the lid to blow off. In my mind I would rather blow the lid off than blow the engine running to lean. If I am wrong please post why. I can buy the part to change it over to a dry kit for $100.00. What do you think?

It was the GM Performance rag that had Jason Crommer in it. If anybody by you has it, I would grab it and read it. If not, let me know, and I will scan it into the puter tonight after the Berger show and email it to you. It talked all about what you just asked.

cASe SenSiTive 08-31-2002, 03:11 PM Chris: I really don't like the idea of running fuel through a manifold that was never designed for that purpose. Puddling, and un-equal dispersion are two problems with it. That's why I like a dry system.
The only wet-system I'd run would be a direct-port.

Chris Ja 08-31-2002, 09:06 PM Thanks guys yes I think you are right. I will get the kit to make it a dry system. I am going to start the install tomorrow. I didn't think about it before but I don't think I have room for the wet kit injectors anyway with the SuperRam. I would have to make some kind of set up for the air filter housing. With the Super Ram there is just enough room now for the stock air filter housing. I may get some 4 inch exhaust and make a system with a big K&N filter on the end. Run it inside the inner fender. That should get a little more air to the throttle body I would think.
Thanks again guys.

I have a new 3000 stall B&M converter I need installed. Does anyone know someone who works cheap? That is more than I can handle with my health. It is a none lockup so it would need a switch installed. Let me know as it would take a little time to come up with the money.

Chris Ja 08-31-2002, 09:48 PM Denny yes it is a MAF sensor car. That is why I was saying I don't think there is enough room.
Let Joe know I may need some help with the wiring soon.

Jeff KandiedZ was coming out today. I though about it but went back to bed. I don't think Berger was to happy with me at M6 anyway. I killed 2 of there 380HP SS Camaros there. I was laughing about it and they said I was spraying. I told them no there cars were not making 380 HP. My car dyno 303 RWHP. So if there cars are 380HP and I beat them by about 4 or 5 cars then i should put say 450 HP emblem on my car right. http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif

Chris Ja 09-01-2002, 02:40 PM Joe do you know what needs to be done with a none lock up converter. I have heard you install a switch. I have also heard there is something you put on the trans and you don't need the switch. I am not sure about with either.
Also denny ask about the MAF sensor on my car. Will a wet kit work with that. I don't know anything about NOS either. http://web.camaross.com/bb/confused.gif

Yes you can use NOs with a MAF, but you have to install the nozzel after the MAF.
I thought about the problem with using a Sup0er Ram with a wet6 kit and I also agree that it's probably not a good idea, so if you know of a kit to run a dry shot then go for it. I'd like to know how that works though, does it make you injectors spray in more fuel or somthing to make up for it???
As for the converter you won't use a switch. The switch is for people who have a lockup converter but for some reason don't have a computer anymore. The switch was used to lock up the converter manually. Since you're puttin in a non-lockup converter you won't have to.
Joe
BTW, who's this 10 second third gen I'm hearing about? It's not me, I know that fo shizzle!
Chris Ja 09-01-2002, 07:28 PM I will be getting a dry kit instead of the wet kit. Cheaper in the long run.
To do the converter I will need something for the trans I am told. Not sure what but I will have to find out.
The guy lives in East Detroit that has the 3rd gen. He just did a 406 or 427 build up. He post here sometimes.
I took the IROC out today and ran through the gears. I had Dennys old tires on there and they sing pretty good. When I hit 3rd gear they chirped loud. That is the first time in all the years I have had the car it did that. http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

94_Z28_ragtop 09-01-2002, 07:44 PM Chris - If I can find some time before I leave, I could help with the converter install. I could be wrong, but if it's non-lockup there is nothing you can do to it to make it lock up.
Maybe we can trade, the converter install for a real nice interior/exterior detail job on the 'vert!

I don't think I want the converter put in if I have to be over 3000 RPM all the time. I guess I will try and sell it. Then get a 3000 stall lock up converter. I have a 2400 stall lock up in there now. Just a little below the power band.
Scott just let me know about the detail work and we can do it or I can do it. Either way it will look sweet.
