I screwed up my 3rd gear with a bad 2-3 shift. Obviously there is no way to tell the problem until the tranny is pulled, but all I can say is that it wont go into 3rd without a harsh grind and a hard push. If I dont give it a hard push it will just pop right out. Considering that the tranny works perfectly except 3rd gear, how much do you think it would cost to have this fixed? Anyone know what the problem could be?

bad synchros?

 

This is a typical question asked of any tranny shop. The standard answer you'll get is, "we'll have to tear into it in order to see what's wrong and what needs to be replaced. We won't be able to give you a good estimate until then."
