Mineral02 04-19-2003, 04:35 AM Well, I just got back from mission. It was cool to see all you guys out... Payam your car was running hard, but unfortunately we all saw that crash which I'm sure made more than just me feel sick to my stomach. I was happy to see you walk away from that man, but I'm really sorry about the car. If you need a hand with anything, let me know man, I'll help you out however I can. Again, glad that you're safe.... cars are replaceable but I really feel for you.

Mineral02 04-19-2003, 04:53 AM Like I said, if there's anything I can do, let me know. A friend of mine buys cars from ICBC and he's a true camaro guy, he's going to get in touch with you and see if there's anything he can do for you. It looked like a scary ride and I really feel for you, I can't begin to understand what you must be going through, but like I said, It was great to see you walk away. I called Vince right away (Black 95 Mustang GT) and he couldn't believe it. We all feel for you man.

zturbo 04-19-2003, 10:17 AM Sorry to hear your probs payam
Guys This is why you get safetu equipment glad payam had it. Not sure of what happened but it is a good thing he had it from the way it is sounding.
I might have an idea for you payam on how to fix your car i will yack at ya later
JD30thZ28 04-19-2003, 11:05 AM Yeah that was definately hard to watch :( Glad you are ok, and as Steven mentioned a big thumbs up to the safety equipment.
I can give you a hand with whatever you need. With all the suport you have here and the other local boards. We should have to you ready to roll very soon. :)
Doesn't ICBC cover us at the track?
zturbo 04-19-2003, 11:09 AM ICBC won't cover anything at the track. You would need to get special insurance and it will cost mega bucks.
Steven
97TA-WS6-Con 04-19-2003, 11:20 AM OMG NOOOOOO.
I don't know the details but I may NEVER see my car on the track. I just realized that I have only been at the track about 8 times and yet in the three years since first went I know of four crashes at the track on SL day. Four if you count Armins ride. I have been seriously worried about crashing my car and have already had reservations about taking it out there.
Time for BCTFB to step up and help the VP.
I'm REALLY sorry to hear of your accident.
zturbo 04-19-2003, 11:27 AM Shaun
One thing you gotta remember about s/l nights is they don't prep the track very well first off then (not saying the case cause i wasn't there) but lack of driving skill on s/l is lower than on a normal drag night. If you are really wanting to see what the car does and get traction go to a day where they prep the track very well (real race)
I am just happy that Payam isn't hurt, cars come and go but ya only got one life.
97TA-WS6-Con 04-19-2003, 11:33 AM Actually Steve that IS what scares me. I do not consider myself a "good" driver - at least at the track.
It seems that accidants can happen REAL easy.
Another question. There is some suggestions that the rear tire may have lost pressure. i put tubes in my slicks. I assume that helps reduce the risk of getting a flat. Right?
Sorry to hear the news - but I'm happy to hear that your OK - a car can alwys be fixed and improved, your limbs are tougher and more painful to repair.
JD30thZ28 04-19-2003, 11:36 AM The track prep was horrible and well it always is for the street events. There was no traction to be found there last night. My best 60ft was a 2.5 and that was feathering in and out of the throttle.
Shaun if you want a good day to go. The best track prep you can enjoy would be on a friday Test&Tune with the CPSA guys are there :) I hope Mission considers doing something about prep for the street legal events. I will definately be sending an e-mail there way because I don't want to see this happen to anyone again.
OneFlyn95z28 04-19-2003, 11:38 AM SID I am REALLY sorry to hear this man :(
I can contribute a steering wheel with Air bag.
It sounds like you may have mis-shifted and popped a slick. That totaly blows man.
If the read end housing is bent I know where I can get it straightened and save the rear end. If your axle is toast we will have to buy one(like $230USD)
here is the best place to get parts have found. I got alot of parts from them CHEAP when I burned my car down in 2000.
http://www.tacreationsusa.com/
Good luck and let me know if I can do any thing else for you!
zturbo 04-19-2003, 11:39 AM Was it the track prep Johnny that caused the wreck all i have heard is there was a bang then another bang?
Shaun,
I understand your feelings, I am a lil diff as I see it as I want to do this and understand that every pass i could wad the car up. How is your car coming shaun?
Steven
kcsoz20 04-19-2003, 12:00 PM [Payam voice]I got dibs on your 12 bolt![Payam voice]
Sorry to here about the crash man!
Ken
97TA-WS6-Con 04-19-2003, 12:01 PM WEll i just installed some 75# injectors and had not wasted too much time tunign with the 50# I had in there.
However, i seem to have some issue with my #2 fan. The relay is clicking and the car is overheating if I sit in the driveway for a long time. I'm not sure if it is a faulty relay or the fan motor. I replaced the fan motor and there does not APPEAR to be any binding of the fan.
Other then that, i DID make some progress on getting the tune started. I now have it at 13.5 AFR from about 1300 rpms through to 2500. However, Ellis advises that I can get away with it being leaner then that at that load.
It still bothers me about how much smoke is coming out the tailpipe, i'm hoping it is because the rings still have not seated. i have overheated twice in the driveway now and i know that is not a good thing on a new motor.
If the weather holds I'd like to get out and tuning tioday but I need a co-pilot.
Payam, you want to do something to distract your mind?
JB_68_Vette 04-19-2003, 12:01 PM I dont know any of you guys but I gotta say the support from the fellow hot rodding community is outsatnding.
Sorry about your loss bro.
The thing that I question is that he says the right rear wheel is now locked up yet the impact was almost totally in the front. I dont know shiat from shiola but it makes sense that if something in the rear happened to cause the right wheel to lock that the car would immediately go sideways and into the right wall just as it did. The immediate sideways jerking motion couldve flattened the left slick easily enough.
Just something to think on because if the rearend failed you may want to contact the people that did the work if it was just recently done.
Good luck,
J.

I don't believe the crash was related to the bad track prep but that is just another thing to deal with there. There was a loud pop/bang. I am not sure what might have caused it and I don't know if anyone got a clear enough look in the dark to see what happened first etc and it all happened so fast......
Pandamonkey 04-19-2003, 12:12 PM I hope everything goes well for you in repairing your car Payam.
Makes me sad to hear about your loss.
Best of Luck to you in the future!
zturbo 04-19-2003, 12:12 PM Hopefully since he JUST got those gears installed it wasn't something with them
Camaro ChriSS 04-19-2003, 12:16 PM Glad to hear you're not physically injured Payam.
I hope we can hear some of the details when they get sorted out - not because I'm a lookie-loo (hate that) but because we can all stand to learn from a situation when something goes wrong.
If I can help I will, but I dont have anything in the way of the parts you need, I'm afraid.
Good luck on the rebuild and here's hoping you'll be stronger next time.
LT1Z28 04-19-2003, 12:18 PM Sorry to hear that bud. :(
Glad to here your okay.
If there is anything i can do to help just ask
Later
Mike
94Zman 04-19-2003, 12:34 PM Glad to see you are all right, that was a hard hit. I was right next to you ( on the sidelines ) watching the run, agree with checking out your rear as it seemed to lock when you crossed the line.....
Great too see the support here
silicuda 04-19-2003, 12:36 PM GREAT THING THAT U ARE OK MAN!!! I am very shocked to hear that your car was in an accident, hope fixing it doesn't cost both of your arms and legs..
Tw!tchb!tch 04-19-2003, 12:44 PM That made me wanna throw up last night man , Good luck with the rebuild , hopefully its just mostly cosmetic stuff . Did you completely flatten your quarter panel ?? Ill see if I can get some messurements from the frame spec cd roms at work so you can take a tape messure and see what if anything is out of square with your engine bay / rad support etc . . . looked like your front might be pushed up and over from the way you hit the wall . Let me know if you have any questions about how to go about the repairs :)
Sorry about your ride man, that was an awful way to end the night :(
Jason said he saw a little smoke start to come off one of your rear tires shortly before your car veered off. Had he not let off on the gas when he saw the smoke, he probably would have hit you . Kudos to Jason on the heads up driving.
CanadianZ 04-19-2003, 01:02 PM I am really sorry to hear about the crash. I have been watching the progress of the buildup and waiting for 11's on the juice. It will come.
Gald you are okay though. You keep the board interesting.
CanadianZ

NiteRider 04-19-2003, 02:44 PM Yeah man, were all here for you I still have all your stuff (sweeeet, sweeet NX bottle) in my car. Craig and Matt wanted to take all your stuff but I had to fend those vultures off with one hand while I drove the rest of the way home, hehehe.. ;)

btw shawn r my little track twirlies dont count.
sideways_Into_3rd 04-19-2003, 03:37 PM hi guys .. just woke up
thanx for all the kind words .. they mean a lot to me
im gonna accept any help and any parts that are being offered :)
ellis, thanx a LOT for the steering wheel .. i greatly appriciate it ..
im gonna go over there today and assess the rest of the damages and take some pics... i will investigate the rear end issue further ... the new gears never whinned and the pattern on them was near perfect .. so im not sure the worksmanship would've caused the rear end to lock up .. but i'll look into that
as of now i have a few suspicions (sp?)
1- rear end locked up, then driver slick went flat
2- driver side slick went flat, i hit the wall, passenger wheel got warped and is ceased against the brake caliper (there is about 5mm clearance between them being 15" wheels)
3- i just shifted too hard, got out of the groove lost it, and the rest is just the aftermath of the crash ...
i'll go pull the right wheel off and see if the rear end is ok ..
either way .. i'll post more details and pics later ..
thanx again guys .. i really appritiate all the help and kind words ...
steve and ellis, i'll catch ya online and talk about the parts..

4-You have the same rear sway bar on that I had when I got in the accident going up the cut into North van. That ****in thing is cursed! I'm gonna come and take it off your car and cut it into tiny little pieces and scatter all the pieces all over the world:death:
97TA-WS6-Con 04-19-2003, 04:10 PM Something else to consider is if the tire moved on the wheel. Of course i would assume that would most likely happen at take off. I have tubes on mine but I think I'll get them screwed as well.

This is what I am thinking. With low pressure it's easier to spin the tire, and if you rip off or damage your air valve...
Then there is the tire bead - those of us who 4X4 know all about losing beads with lowered tire pressure.
talos 04-19-2003, 04:26 PM ****! sorry to hear that.... :(
BennyBoy 04-19-2003, 04:32 PM Sorry to hear about the accident. :(
Glad you are OK though.
oldschool 04-19-2003, 05:57 PM Shawn and Craig......thats just what I was going to say.....!
Payam, if there is ONE PERSON on this board who knows how you feel...its me. I've become VERY good at sourcing parts, so if you need anything, I'll help forsure.
It will be up and running before you know it...trust me and in the meantime, you can ride shotgun in my car.
Andy
Jacks_Z28 04-19-2003, 06:25 PM Sorry to hear the news dude, but glad your ok. If I can help in anyway, you let me know man.
PJs94Z 04-19-2003, 08:33 PM Payam...Cant believe that. I am so sorry to hear about your luck..if there is anythign at all can do to help please let me know.
JD30thZ28 04-19-2003, 09:47 PM Your making local news ;)
"GOOD Friday at Mission...for almost everybody
It's a major weekend of west coast street action as the PSCA cars take to the revamped Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield this weekend, while last nite we hung at Mission and saw some WILD stuff!...Including a nasty wall-banger from a late-model bottled Camaro. Just missed contacting the dude in the right lane as that guy stomped the binders and watched the F body that started in the left lane drift quickly to the right slamming hard into the concrete mere inches in front of him. Flat hit took out entire side of a nice car. No injuries, as we noted deployment of both passenger and driver's side bags. A first for us on a drag strip."
This is just a posting on the Horsepower Heaven site, although they think you were spraying on those runs......
They better get use to high 11/low 12 sec N/A F-Body's :D

thanks alot erik, that means alot to me! if i would have been a hair faster it would have been me sandwitched in between the wall and payam, things could have gone from bad to worse! having a car do a 45 deg. turn right in front of your car mere feet away at 85mph is something im not to keen in experiencing again! all sorts of debris and shredden stuff rained shrapnel on to my car and underside. as i was in a 4 wheel lock going sideways at like 25 deg. people thought i hit him too and the wall, the debris hit my locked slicks and the car started bouncing on the slick sideways , i thought i was done for too. i left 4 30 foot lines with like 2 feet in between each of them. i gotta thank payam for keeping the car from spinning around after he hit the wall or we would have both beed done for, i skidded to a stop like 5 feet from his bumper after the car coasted off the wall and down the track 10 feet or so.I could have been minus 5 feet into him:(
my family owns 4 auto wreckers and irocnparts (mike) also goes to icbc too like me, i got a 4th gen z at one of our yards, so im sure we can find what you need, cuz we got lots of parts.
when you get her all fixed up we should finish that run, in the same lanes and put a BIG middle finger in the devils face! good luck and we'll get her sorted out.
OneFlyn95z28 04-19-2003, 11:47 PM yeah I have gotten the same thing here. Everyone is SURE I am juicing into the 11s.
DAMN hard to do with the bottle sitting in the closet!
Can't wait till SID backs it up!
