Okay, so I was just getting ready to wash my car and I look at the front bumper cover and notice a spot roughly about 4" x 4" where the clear coat has totally been eaten through!!! It must have happened after a road trip that I had taken at night and some bug guts had been left on the paint, but I didn't think letting it sit for a few days would hurt anything...I guess I was wrong!!

Anyways, I am getting the bumper cover repainted (I have wanted to do this for a while ANYWAYS, but I am still a little upset over this whole deal)....and I was just inquiring on what to do when bug guts get splattered on the paint??? What is the best procedure to take so that this DOESN'T happen again??? Also, what are some tips on how to take care of the new paint that will be on the bumper???

Any tips/help/advice is appreciated!!!

It is best not to let the bugs stay on for more than 24 hours, always carry a towel and a bottle of detailer spray with you in the car to take care of the bugs.

 

Yeah, I guess I had to find this out the hard way.

Any tips for the new paint at all??? How long should I wait before I polish/wax it??? What other steps should I take to make sure that it will cure properly???

Some bugs are acidic, and can do serious damage to your paint. You learned the hard way along with all the other people who rip on front end cover supporters and users like my self.

 

Yeah...I just don't like the way that they look on my car...now that I know about the dangers of bug guts, I will be sure to be a little bit more careful.
