94PCM in 93 car

Yes it is possible, the easiest way to do it is to get a complete used harness from a wrecking yard with a used PCM. The 94/95 are not SD systems, they use a MAF sensor so you will need to get those parts as well.

Your 93 is programmable, just that it has a removable EPROM that you have to remove from the PCM to change the calibration. However instead of an interface cable you will need to purchase an EPROM programmer and a UV eraser unless you want to purchase a flash memory prom which is cheaper anyway than to get a eraser.

You are would be looking at about $275 worth of gear and software to start programming your own proms. Most likely that could be cheaper than buying a used harness and PCM and all the associated goodies that go with it.

Can I make the PCM programmable as the 94s? I dont care if its speed density or maf.. I just want to be able to reprogram it.. either by the ALDL or out of the car...

I read somewhere that this isn't possible due to the fact that the 93s still used the old tuned port injection rather than the sequential injection that the 94+ uses. They use entirely different reading and sensors for the injectors and a 94+ PCM is not set up to be able to handle this. It might be possible to make some type of converter, but I don't know how feasible or if even possible. Your best bet is to just get an EPROM programmer such as the Pocket Programmer 2 from www.xtronics.com (only $150 and it will program all GM EPROMS) and tunercat with the $DA file for the 93 PCM for $100. A UV eraser will probably run you about $50-$90 and a few extra EPROM chips will be maybe $10-$20. You'll always have to pull the PCM to reprogram, but considering how much trouble the FLASH system is, it's not really that big of a deal. At least you don't have to desolder your board to get your chips out!

I want to tune a friends car and I would like to know the cheapest way to do it... its tough!!! to do that all the time... Its better through the ALDL port, so what I need is a complete harness then... the complete harness runs inside the vehicle and ALDL port???

i am quite sure you would have to replace the entire wiring harness and maybe even the intake since its not the same. a complete harness i believe just runs in the engine bay and down to the O2 sensors but you might have ABS and speed sensors to deal with too which run to the rear axle i think.

easiest way to tune the car is to have someone do it or buy the chip burners if that is even possible. im sure that stuff isnt near as easy to come by as 94+ tuning software and cables. if you have specific SD questions the i suggest maybe checking out www.thirdgen.org i hear theres a lot of good stuff over there since most of those guys are familiar with burning chips.
