headlight fix problem

i was trying to do the Brent Franker "free headlight fix" on my formula, and i cannot get the arm off the motor shaft. i sprayed lots of WD-40 and still cannot get it off. is there anything stronger i can spray on there, or a trick to prying it off? im afraid to pry too hard because the panel that the shaft is mounted to is plastic and it bends pretty easily. thanks for all the help.

Try something like Liquid Wrench or similar. WD40 isn't quite like the "Liquid Wrench" type products. Good luck!

I just did this over this weekend with WD-40. You just have to hit it with some WD-40 (GENOROUSLY) at the top of the shaft and then reach in thier at spray some at the bottom of the shaft. The wiggle the arm that is attached to the arm and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then repeat spraying the WD-40 on the top and bottom. It took me like 3-4 tries and it popped right out. Liquid Wrench Would work better but I did not feel like taking and extra trip to the parts store

By the Way, Screw the quick Fix, Get the Metal Gears from Brent, You will be thanking him later on down the line when you have to go in there and replace those plastic gears later on.

well i found some Liquid Wrench and got it off. Turned the shaft 180 degrees and it still made the grinding noise. Well i guess i should order the kit from Brent. Question is should i just get 1 for the messed up one, or fix both?

Thumbs up

If you do a search under LT1 Tech, you will find that I just replace them both and was very happy with the results. I would Highly recommend replacing both and just forgetting about it. I mean since you are already there you might as well replace them both so you never have to deal with it again. If you dont replace them both, you will probably get pissed the next time your other one starts acting up

My opinion....Get em both
Thanks,
Claude
