This is kind of odd. After 1997, you weren't supposed to be able to get a Z28 with a body-color roof anymore. It simply wasn't an option. You were stuck with black.
Although this seller doesn't claim the car hasn't been repainted, the car has only 15,000 miles on it, so I don't know why it WOULD be repainted. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=170600739569
They claim the car was given an LS6 crate motor, which is kind of odd too. Not being a Corvette person, I can't tell if that's true or not.
The roof being painted really bugs me. I checked my image collection, and I don't have any other Z28s from 1999 with body-color roofs except one that a dealership had painted and offered as a "special edition". Only B4C and V6 cars could have them. I even checked the VIN # 2G1FP22G3X2131727 and there's no RPO code for the car having a body-colored roof.
I thought for sure the car would show black here, but it's orange... it's hard to tell if the fold-over area is black or if that's just a shadow. I emailed the seller, maybe they can shed some light on whether the roof was repainted...
Neat car. But odd. The car is definitely one of the very few Hugger Orange Z28s, but I can't explain the body color roof.

I asked him to ask the owner if the dealership painted the roof or something and some other stuff like why he had an LS6 crate engine put in.
he said the roof is how it sat on the showroom floor brand new and called the dealership to see if it was painted and they claim it was not which i beleive cause you can tell it was never touched other than that i can not help you any more this i a one owner car purchaced new and for the motor he was thinking for collector view keep the stock engine pristine

Hmmmmm, very strange indeed. Have NEVER seen a Hugger Orange hardtop 99 Z without a black top. It looks like it has not been touched though.

MN car. About 1.5 hours from me. When it warms up around here, and if it's still available, I wouldn't mind taking a trip to check this out. Interesting find.
