JE 51, 52, 93 series piston pins anyone upgrade?
I'm currently putting parts together for my 383 build, I purchased the 131631 JE pistons, planning on runing say 15-20 lb of boost.
However, my engine builder brought up an interesting fact, that the pistons I bought come with 51 series piston pins in the box, after looking up the pins it looks like JE includes their standard durty 51 series with their pistons and might not be up to the task.
I'm just trying to get a general consensus, has anyone ever run big boost with the original 51 series piston pins that come with the JE's and later checked to see if anything happened to the pins, either through dissaembly aftert the fact or even better, any major failures?
Thanks, and what is the general opinion in upgrading the original JE 51 series pins, which come up as standard duty, even just from reading their website looks like they want you to go with heavier duty pins.
