I don't like hard top convertibles. In my opinion they don't look as good as a softop when they are up thanks to all the joints and hinges, they take up more space than a softtop so you have to either raise the stack height or eat into the trunk space - or both.
Soft tops have gotten so good at keeping out weather and noise these days, that the only advantage of a retractable hardtop is you can't cut the top with a knife. But of all the things that might happen to your car, that's such a small % chance that it doesn't really concern me. If someone really wants to break in they can always smash a window, that's quicker and easier than cutting through a multi layer soft top. You'd need one heck of a Crocodile Dundee knife to cut through a modern top in a hurry.
I want to see some aftermarket T-Tops like several companies did for, among other cars, late 70s Eldorados
