The article mentions 83,000 units in 10 months.. Even if you go by the sales transactions only that comes out to 61K cars, 80% of that is 48800.
48,800 X $8,000 = $390,400,000
48,800 X $8,000 = $390,400,000

80% V8 sales, oh yeah, no pent up demand there Still though I suppose its welcome news in some sense as the V8 cars are helping to pay development costs off faster.
What happens though when V8 sales taper off and V6 sales only marginally increase or don't increase at all?

The G8 GT didn't have any of that -- it was just an engine upgrade and a badge. Also, it's possible that the G8's engine costs less than an LS3.

I have some real concerns regarding the wording in this article as it pertains to what Bob did or didn't say, or actually mean.
Statements that include "transactional" prices in the context have nothing to do with what the manufacturer sees in profit.
I'm not suggesting transactional prices are not important. If a transactional price falls too low then incentives are required and THAT has an effect on the profit the manufacturer can realize.
