Z06 rims. Car getting thrown around while driving
Got 275 40 17 tires on the 98Z and they are the Z06 rims design like below:
Mirror & Black Corvette Z06 Wheels 17x9.5 ZO6 Camaro Rims 17 inch C4 C5 | eBay
The tires don't rub and were on the car when we bought it. It feels like the car is very loose and the car gets thrown around way to much. Like you get pulled to the right and then when you correct it tosses you the other direction. Just took the snow tires off and it didn't do that all winter. Any idea?

Is it possible the hub holes in the rear wheels did not fit over the 94's oversize rear axle hubs, and the wheels are not mounted straight?

Re: Z06 rims. Car getting thrown around while driving
I have found that the really low-aspect ration tires, the 40 series and 35 series, really follow the ruts and grooves in the highway. If you look at most travel lanes, they are rutted, the wheel paths look like troughs from wear. Not a fan of that "darty" feeling- the tires look great, but take all the enjoyment out of driving.

Checked all the rims and fitment and they all seems fine. It appears to be just big tires on the front, from what I am seeing. I have 245's that I will try to see if it helps. They are 9.5X17 AFS rims, so no issues with the fitting on the car.

Try driving outside the groove and see if it helps.
I agree with Wild ***** it sounds like the wide low profile tires are trying to follow the ruts in the road but your track width is different that that of the ruts so one tire pulls in then the other when you correct. Tire choice can play into this as well, maybe look up your current tires on TireRack and see what folks have to say.

Wide front tires will fine every rut, dip, and bump in the road. I think you will find by going to a 245 front that will fix your problem. Also check for any play in the steering itself.

Hi from UK
When I bought mine, the car "tramlined" badly it was a handful to keep straight on the "rutted by lorries" roads.
I replaced the tyres to get a fulll set of the same make as it was a mixture on the back, and got a set of Hercules G3000. The handling was transformed!!!
When I looked at the front tyres that came off, the were " bevelled" or "chamferred" at the inner and outer edges. Obviously some vigorous use by the previous owner.
However, now she drive beautifully.
She runs on 245/50R16 BTW.

Re: Z06 rims. Car getting thrown around while driving
Wide tires will tramline, but they shouldn't "throw the car around". NJ's asphalt roads are horribly rutted by 18 wheelers and 80,000# tri-axles. But running 275/40-17 in the front, and 315/35-17 drag radials in the back, the tramlining is little more than an annoyance.

Re: Z06 rims. Car getting thrown around while driving
Put my old Toyo's 245's on his car and he said much better. The brand of tire might make a difference plus they were at the wear indicators and had been over inflated with more wear in the middle. Think this will help and looks good so far. I paid $600 for the Toyo's 10 years ago and they worked great for me, but I needed the 275's all around and stored the 245's.
