wheel spacers

can i use .250 or .375 spacers on my rear without changing my stock studs? my C5 18x10.5 wheels with 58 mm offset are tight to the inner fender well. i used the bfh and got the clearance i needed but the rims hang over the bump stops and i would like to give them a little room. thanks guys

Re: wheel spacers

Confusing... you mention stock studs, but you have a Strange 12-bolt.

For a truly stock stud - with wheel on the hub, no spacer, put an open-ended acorn lug nut on the stud and tighten it. See how much of the threaded stud projects from the end of the lug nut.

To fit correctly, the hex portion of nut has to engage 12mm (~1.2") of the threads on the stud. Typically that allows the end of the stud to be slightly inside the end of the lug nut (depending on the thickness of the hex portion of the nut).

In rough terms, with a nut with a 1/2" thick hex, if you don't have at least 1/4" projecting, stud is not long enough for an 0.250" spacer: 3/8" projecting for the 0.375" spacer.

Re: wheel spacers

thanks for the reply. i do have a strange rear but the studs are the same length as stock. i do have acorn nuts on. never thought about putting regular lug nuts on and seeing how much stud is stinking out. it only makes sense what you are saying. thanks
