I found even wear patterns with 24psi on my 555R's, but I drive 35 highway miles to work (70 round trip
) and they get pretty warm at those speeds. I ran 28 for a while and found the center was wearing fast.
If you drive in Texas or Mexico you'll want a few psi lower than me, if you're in the mid-west or Canada probably a bit higher. For more city driving you can run 1 or 2 psi higher as well (tires don't heat up as much in stop and go).
At the strip I found 20psi was about perfect... after each burnout & pass I found I needed to bleed off about 2 psi to keep the pressure constant (dman things keep heating up
). I know it sounds like a lot, but after a full night at the track they would cool down to about 10psi :-O... bring an air pump... these tires heat up (and get sticky) fast.
I nuked one posi at the line with my 3rd pass and 20 psi one night. The next posi got nuked when launching from the side of the interstate (after putting up the top)... those tires hook like no one's business once warm.
