hubcentric rings is what he is talking about. I dont know the specs for the size of our hubs. perhaps fred(injuneer) will pop in here and help you out further :)

Re: What is hubcentric?

The 4th Gen wheels are "lugcentric".... the wheels are centered on the axles by the conical lugnuts. Other wheels may be "hubcentric", which means the wheel is centered on the hub by a chamfered ring on the inside diameter of the hub hole in the back of the wheel.

The problem with the 4th Gens is that almost all of the LT1 cars (except mid-year and newer 97's) have different hub diameters in the front and back, with the back hubs being (I think) 0.03" larger than the fronts. To make your wheels hubcentric, you would have to have a differrent diameter chamfered ring for the fronts and the rears, and would be limited on tire rotation.

Find out more about what he is trying to sell you.

Are you possibly running "spacers"? NHRA for example only allows spacers to be used if they are either hubcentric or lugcentric. In other words, you can't run the cheapie spacers that they sell at your typical auto parts store, with the huge oval holes so they can fit wheels with bolt patterns ranging from 4.5" - 5.0". The "loose" ones could easilly be mounted "off-center", but I doubt they would cause any imbalance or wobble. Skulte will make hubcentric spacers for our cars.... I need to measure my front hubs for him, so he can make them up.

Those privats aren't 120mm bolt pattern are they? Because if they are that just might be your problem. People have had problems on other boards with wheels in that bolt pattern wobling loose and coming off.

Re: What is hubcentric?

You're "shimmy" problem lies elnsewhere. Hubcentric rings are of little use on a 4th gen f-body. As Fred said the wheels are centered by the conical lugnuts, not the hubs. You have a bent rim, improperly balanced tire, worn balljoint or the like. I have purchased cheaper rims that were out of round right from the factory.
