Broken rear stud

The joys of previous owners....

I noticed today when I was swapping wheels that I have a broken stud on the LH rear axle. There's enough thread left that a lug nut still threads on to it, but it's definitely snapped and needs replaced. I've replaced lug nuts before so I'm familiar with the procedure. My question is about access - do I need to pull the axle to get the old lug out and the new one in, or is there room to do it with the axle in it's normal position?

Re: Broken rear stud

No need to pull the axle. There is room to access the stud at the rear of the hub. Only a problem with traction control (ASR = RPO "NW9" - which was not available in 1994), more difficult, but still possible to get the stud out without pulling the axle.

Sorry is took two days to get an answer to a simple question.... seems like there is nobody on this site any more.
