beware of cheap zr1's on ebay.....

I just recieved a set, they are refurbished wheels. Make sure you ask the seller where the wheels come from, and if they have been repaired/refurbed. Looks like the guys on ebay sell cheap wheels by getting damaged ones and reparing them. My wheels have some imperfections and I can tell they are not the quality as my previous AFS wheels. I was told they WERE afs wheels(but the fact that they have been refurbed was omitted), just a heads up for anyone buying them on ebay.

Yeah, good info.

I knew of AFS and PWO who sold the replica wheels but a while back when I saw some others selling them in bulk on eBay I was wondering what was up. Now we know.

AT A MINIMUM, these places should make mention they are repaired wheels with possible blems. It is just wrong to sell them and not mention this. I'm sure you made this known in your feedback, right?

Those are the "good ones"

If I recall, it used to be that AFS only put their blems on eBay. They made it clear they were blemished and not the cream of the crop of their wheels. Their non blems were sold on their site. However, lately, I don't recall seeing blemished wheels from AFS on eBay. Instead, they sell the same wheels that are sold on their site (but sometimes at half the price ). Where did all the blems go? Looks like to other ebayers who are reselling them while leaving out the important info that they were once damaged or have slight imperfections.

I'm not saying that ALL the ZR1 replica wheel dudes on eBay besides AFS and PWO are like this but it does explain some things

Thats what gets me to. I didn't leave negative feedback because I got the wheels and just opened each box to see if they were there and didn't look in "detail" until I actually had them mounted. I got them on the day I had to leave for travel so I didn't look at the wheels that much, and before I left I just wrote some positive feedback because the wheels were here and the looked good from a glance. When I noticed and by then it was to late, I already left POSITIVE feedback, doh!!! (another lesson learned I don't use ebay much, actually I HATE ebay but I do it if I have to)

Also, the repair on the wheels are good, it isn't like a ghetto hack job looks professional but you can tell upon further inspection. Thats why it took me until I mounted them to tell they were refurbed. I got all four wheels for $500. The wheels are OK but just a warning they aren't PERFECT, . So again, ask the sellers.

Maybe later today I will take pics for you guys, and you can see for yourself.

He has a pretty good rating, I guess that's what counts, right? If he really were a rip off, he wouldn't have a 98% positive rating, but who knows. I have my eye on some Zr1's he's selling too

That could be, but most people wont see problems with rims till after they have already left feedback right? Just a thought.
It took my buddy a few months before his ebay zr1 replica cracked a half inch. Sorry I dont know who sold it to him or I would tell ya.

Red face

That has to hurt! I see this one that's decently priced, says the only things wrong with it is paint drops and a ding in the rim, which I don't even notice even on the picture they have of the pen pointing right to it. I need new rims bad, but I have no $$$ to do it.

"moore9911"

Not to really bring this back from the dead - but I ordered a set from OE Wheels in Florida. $1308.20 shipped (insured) for 17x9.5's for the front and 17x11's for the rear. Polished with Sumhitomo tires. Guy was nice and helpful, also says the wheels meet OE spec and they carry a 1 year warranty on the face and finish, and a lifetime warranty against structural defects. We'll see how it goes, I should have em in 2 weeks. Cant wait to see what they look like next to my bald 245/50r16's!
