Question Any LT1 guys try those Competition Kumho tires on their Fbod?

Not the high performance ones, the ones that look to be a drag radial pretty much... like the Ecsta v700 or VictoRacer V700

Looks like they're discontinuing the Ecsta V710

Pulled this from another car board, posted today:

Kumho is pulling the ECSTA V710 Competition Tire from the market and is suspending its ale following "inconsittent" test results, Kumho stated..............

the tire was just introduced Jan 1... the test results showed "something wrong with tread splice and tread area durability:...........

Kumho will replace them free of charge with either the ECSTA V700 or Victoracer tire.

call: 800-445-8646 ext. 342

customers will also get a certificate for a free set of the V710 "when" its sold again.

I'll have to check my tires when I get home. I'd love two free sets of tires.

I also thought about getting those. I think there are 4 different kinds of victoracer tires though kumho makes. Heat cycled, full tread, etc. They look pretty nice and are not all that expensive. I also seen they have a 265 width available for a 16" wheel.

Ive had the Victoracers on the back of my car for about 6 months, 5k miles. These are awesome tires. Very sticky and stiff sidewalls. The wear is much better than I expected. I can probably get 12k miles out of these. Drove them in the rain on the highway once and didnt notice any difference from the KDW's. If you are considering drag radials but want to keep your handeling, I highly recommend these.

By the way, I got the 265/45/ZR16's full tread, fit the stock rims perfectly.

I've gone through many, many sets of Kumho Victoracer V700's. I would seriously recommend not using these for street drving. Although they are DOT approved they are really compeition autox and road race tires. I can't even begin to imagine getting 12K miles of off them. You may have decent wet weather traction for the first few thousandths of tread but after that do not work well for what you need on a street car.
I have a set of V710's, I'm waiting on UPS to pick them up any day now. I already have my 'free' set of victoracers. Who knows when the next supply of *fixed* V710s become available.

I was intending for track use only, to try something different than the nittos everyone suggests. these would not be for everyday driving.

1/4 mile track only

Victoracers are horrible for the drag strip. They're a roadrace/autocross tire, sticky with a stiff sidewall.... Stick with drag radials or drag slicks.
