Aftermarket C4 rims?

Long time reader, first time posting. I've looked at the fitment guide for wheels but am curious to see if these wheels will work and how wide of a tire I could possibly fit on them?

https://www.fitmentindustries.com/buy-wheel-offset/103B-796138/square?vehicle=Car&

Any help would be appreciated. I drive a 97 Camaro 3.8L base model but am planning on swapping to a 92-96 rear diff(Posi w/ disk brakes) soon as well as the 98-02 front end swap.

The 38mm offset puts the outer edge of the front wheel and tire under, or possibly outside the edge of the front fender. Might encounter rubbing with the front wheels turned to full lock, or if you hit a hard bump. You would be much better off with an offset in the range of 45-55mm. The least I have ever run in the front is 49mm offset, and with the front end lowered about 1.5", the tire would rub on the plastic inner fender liner over hard bumps.

Back wheels are OK with the 38mm offset. The outer edge of the wheel/.tire will be very close to the outer edge of the fender, but should not present any problems.

The photos in post #9 of this thread show two different front wheels - one is 17x9.5" 56 mm offset, and the other it 17x9.5 49mm offset, as labeled on each photo. Going with a 38mm offset will move the outer edge of the wheel tire out another 0.43" past where they show in the 49mm offset photo.

There is also a link in that post to a Trans Am with 17x9,5" 45mm offset in the front (only)

Re: Aftermarket C4 rims?

A 9.5" wide wheel will accept either a 275/40-17 or a 285/40-17 tire. Do not try and squeeze a 315/35-17 on a 9.5" wide wheel. The outside diameter of the tire will affect the speedometer slightly, depending on what size tires your car left the factory with.

The rear axle assembly change you mentioned will not affect any of this.

Thanks this helps alot. What wheels do you guys like to run that aren't ridiculous price wise. Stock wheels cost about what aftermarket does. Its hard to find any good looking wheels with the right offset at a decent price.

Depends on your budget - Craiglist is your best bet for finding a used set. Places like eBay and OE Wheels are good sources for replicas e.g.
