Re: 19X12 rims
A 12" wide wheel with a 59mm offset would have an 8.75" backspace. The physical limit on a 4th Gen is 8.0". You either have to add a spacer - which puts them 3/4" to 1" outside the fender line, requiring fender flares. Or you have to tub the rear wheel wells, or at least offset the LCA's to the inside of the subframes, and cut away large portions of the inner fender liner.

Re: 19X12 rims
And if you want to add a spacer it's no picnic... there's a reluctor ring on the axles that keeps you from replacing the wheel stud's (unless someone knows how to do it... it didn't look possible to me), so you'd need to use a spacer that was thick enough to have it's own studs.

Re: 19X12 rims
The "spacer" that he would require does not need longer studs. It bolts to the stock studs, then has a new set of studs to bolt the wheels to. Do not use "sandwich" style spacers for anything more than maybe 1/4" of adjustment. And, only the TCS cars have the reluctor rings, not the "ABS only" cars.
To replace the studs on the TCS cars, you can pull the rear axles. A "search" might be worth the time, since I'm pretty sure I saw a thread recently on maybe the Drivetrain forum that included a solution without pulling the axles. |
