18x12's
What would it rub in the front besides the fenders?

Re: 18x12's
i've never heard of even the most exotic lamborghini's or ferrari's running anything that wide in the front. that's alot of rubber to steer.............

now, my point is 18x12's probably wouldn't take something below a 295 or 315. i don't want to get away from the subject of f-body's, so i'd say by the design of the fenders and body, it probably wouldn't work. |
Re: 18x12's
I was reffering to the fronts. What size rims do you normally see on exotics?
|
Re: 18x12's
the mucielago runs 18x8.5s up front
Enzo runs 19x9s hell, even the bugatti veyron runs 20.5x9.3 |
Re: 18x12's
I think the only reason for running a wheel/tire that wide in the front would be if your doing autocrossing. I know of some people that have run 315's in the front for this reason. You might want to check out the autocrossing section.

Re: 18x12's
18X12's in the front? That would be a hell of a custom job to make fit it possible at all. I imagine that car would drive one step above [****] with rims that wide up front Bump Steer like a mofo.
Why not 18X 9.5 or 10 up front 18X 11 or 12 in the rear? Mostly on the exotics it's the rear wheels that they put the meat into. If you look at a Diablo the rears look Gigantic, but thier only 17's |
Re: 18x12's
Ive seen 315's on all four corners, doesn't look bad at all.

are diablos 17x11 or 12?

Re: 18x12's
You're gonna have to completely re-engineer the whole front frame section to make that happen. You can't exactly get away with doing the "BFH Mod" on the front inner fenderwells, because there's an upper control arm and then a strut in your way. I took the liberty of measuring the distance from the upper control arm to the outer edge of the fender: roughly 12". You're looking at having to chop the inner fenderwells out and converting from a Macpherson strut to a coilover setup, like this:
http://www.waynedue.com/web/Products...b/IMG_5820.jpg The second issue is, once you've used up all of that room towards the inside, it's not going to leave you with enough to turn the wheels all the way to lock. Even people running 10's up front have this problem. The only way to get that turning clearance back is to narrow the framerails. In addition to all this, you're still going to have to figure out a way to reinforce the fender mounts after removing all that metal. You're looking at alot of welding, alot of fabricating, and alot of money. |

Re: 18x12's
There is a guy who posts here regarding the 17x11's he runs on all 4 corners for Auto-X. Why not do a search and send him an e-mail asking about the 18x12's. He should be able to tell you exactly what size spacers you would need, how far they will stick outside the front fenders, and what he needed to do to keep the tires from rubbing.

Re: 18x12's
Awesome info everyone thanks. Ill do some searches tonight and see if I can find that guy. Also I wonder who makes 17x13 rims? Ive seen 15x* but not 17x13
