$135 to install four stock tires?

Well I finally decided to retire my 19 year old Goodyear Gatorbacks. Bought four GS-D3 tires off the net and had them shipped here. They're the stock size (245/50/16) on stock GTA honeycomb wheels.

It was $100 for install and balancing. $14 for stems, $5 shop supplies. $15.47 for sales taxes. $134.47 total.

I got this done at the local Goodyear Tire shop (Fountain Tire). The sign on the wall said $12 (standard) and $15 (custom) per tire for balancing. I asked why $25 each for my setup. He said it's because of the no scratch no touch special mounting equipment they use for mag wheels. And that if I had chrome wheels it would have been $200 (instead of $100). 18" and bigger cost more too.

I've obviously never bought new tires for my GTA as the ones on there were the original tires. Are these "extra" fees standard fare or did I just get jacked big time?

you guys think ~$135 is normal???
ha. I swap wheels/tires like none other and the MAX i've ever spent was $40 for it all. Usually shops hook it up.
I even have a hard time spending that much(bc I do it so often, it seems like im just throwing it away). Ive went many diff places to get my wheels/tires swapped and have never even got 1 mark put on them.

Next time call around. One time I went to NTB and they wanted $15 per wheel/tire to dismount/mount/balance etc. They guy quickly said... ah, if you want just tell the tire guy to do it and give him a tip. I gave the guy $10 and he seemed happy as hell LOL. so yes. That was $10 to dismount/mount/balance etc all 4 tires.

If anything. Try to find someone on the boards that works at a discount tire or something. They'll always hook it up.

My local shop is $12 per installed tire. That was for 255/40-17 rear and 245/45-17 front. No matter what my rim material is. Its a Merchants Tire center.

All the other fees are similar.
