WTB: 78-81 Camaro/Firebird for Resto....

I'm looking to buy a 78-81 Camaro or 74-81 Firebird to restore. Anyone got one just sitting around collecting dust?

Why '78-'81 Camaro? Everyone knows the early 2nd gens are the best!

I have a sale pending on my '71, but I can let you know if it falls through. Its just a rolling chassis (no motor/trans).

lol, while I would LOVE to buy a 67-73 Camaro or Firebird, I probably couldn't afford a decent one. 74-81 Firebirds and 78-81 Camaros aren't really wanted by a lot of people, so you can find them for much cheaper and usually in better condition.

I see. When you said "for resto" I figured you just wanted a shell. If you want a car that is already a driver, but needs to be restored...you are right...the '67-'73 camaros and firebirds are usually at least in the $5k+ range. I'm selling my roller (complete body/suspension, no interior/engine/trans) for $1200.

You might want to post your want ad over here too. More 2nd gen guys selling cars - although you may have to travel to get one:

I'd take a shell of a 67-73 Camaro or Firebird!!! That'd be awesome if I could find one I could afford. Lots of people want like $4k for those cars (just the shell) around my area. If you know of any, let me know!

Hmm....maybe I underpriced my car??? I'll let you know if I come across anything else. I might have access to another one, a 71...but it's a bit more rough than mine is. If you are serious and don't mind a little extra work, it could be a good score pretty cheap...I could try to get some pics of it this weekend.

lol, no your car isn't underpriced. Your car is priced right where it should be. The problem with my area is that Fort Hood is right down the road and, to be honest, soldiers will buy anything at just about any price. It's impossible to get a good deal on anything in Killeen, and that overpriced cancer has spread to surrounding towns like mine. The only place to find a decent project car is Texas Exports of 190, but they sell junk cars for mint prices. They are trying to sell a 68 Camaro Tub for $2500. No front clip, no glass and some rust damage. That's insane. The cars that run can cost between $6,000 - $10,000 and they still need to be restored. In almost any other town the prices are half that. So that's why I turned to the internet. I did find a 1970 Tempest I'm interested in, but I still have to contact the owner (Hasn't been home lately.)

If you find one.... I still have some parts left from a 81Z28 I have been parting out.

Not a lot of good stuff left, but maybe something you would need.
