Question T-56 Help needed--Northside Houston

Just wondering if anyone knows of a reputable tranny shop on the northside (Spring/Woodlands area). I looking to get a T-56 (94-96 version) inspected/rebuilt/installed for an auto-to-manual conversion for my Impala SS.

Also, I'd like to know what parts need/should be upgraded while the tranny is outside of the car. I'm primary using the car as an occasional driver in addition to 4-5 auto-x's/road races a year.

Any suggestions on this matter would be appreciated.

Good question. I would call MTI, madman, House-of-speed, & local mechanic shops to see what they say. If you get teh same answer from 3 or m ore people you should be in business.

D&D Performance are supposed to build healthy T56s as well, but you'll have to do a search for more info - they are not local.

Thanks 96-speed,

Sounds like good advice. Hopefully I can find a shop that will do both good work and be kinda reasonable with the price.

Anyone else got any ideas on parts or shops?

Chris: Does speeddemon do the bench work, or do they contract it? I guess I should just call...

Thanks Richard,

I will be purchasing the kit from them. The kit they sell is very complete. There are a bunch of guys on the impalassforum who have purchased their kit and have been real pleased with the parts and service from Josh. Not too bad of a price either.

That's only a couple of miles from my house. I'll give them a call.

Thanks Brook!

This list is awesome.

Not sure if this will help at all, but Hendricks Chevrolet in Northern Virginia was rumored to have sold some 6 speed conversions new. They may have some diagrams, parts lists, etc. That big fast car kit looked pretty good though.
