just installed diff subs/amp/ and head unit.. im having problems.. any ideas?

the amp works when its on the radio, but wheni switch it to the cd player, it shuts off.. why is it doing this? do you think maybe i dont have the rca plugs plugged in the right spots on the HU? it worked before, but kept on shutting off. i went back and realized that the REM wire wasnt connected well.. any ideas?
i appreciate any help
thanks

that sounds like a problem with the head unit. Do you have another head unit to try?

If the amp works with one source and not the other, its not the amp. Try the other HU because that is most assuredly the problem.

i think its the REM wire. if you hook it up to one of the blue wires. it will only work when the radio is on.. but the other will work every time the radio/cd player etc is on

you prob have the rem and power antenna wire switched. if you have the power antenna wire hooked up to the amp it will shutoff when the cd player kicks on

run a switch between the power and the remote on the amp. dont even use the blue remote wire. just dont forget to turn off the amp or you will drain the batt

I had a friend that used a toggle in his. He drained his battery a few times then called me to hook it up with the REM wire.

I did the same thing. You have the remote (REM) wire hooked to the power antenna wire on the HU. Hook it up to the dedicated amp wire. Reason being your HU cuts the power to the antenna on cd play because obviously you don't need it.

right. Who wants to drive around with a power antenna up when you are jamming to a CD?

Do what he says and you'll be fine.

Hey patrick. I am coming home to Dallas tomorrow night and will have Friday mostly free. Any chance I could come get that extra lug from you still? You still have it somewhere? I know I know, I should have gotten that a LONG time ago, but I completely forgot about it. Luckily I haven't been racing or anything lately, so everything's ok.

Let me know.

Kyle
